Same as I see someone get a new Rex and wish it was mine - so I could do the modding thang again - there is not much left for me to do except start on the mota. And we all know there is no logical reason to do that.......but since when has logic had anything to do with mororcycles.
Your in Sydney, perhaps you need to come anjd have a look at my Rex and tell me that it doesnt "stir your loins" - after you've seen it in person

Also, as a former 9 owner I know your pain.
I have two quotes for you in relation to the ZRX, 1, "the ZRX - best blank canvas for creating your own ride. I have the contacts to make this happen. Only limit is your imagination

2, "The ZRX, more then the sum of its parts"
I'm not responsible for either - nor am I responsible.

Tell me something mate, how would you describe the differences between a ZRX and a Z1000 ? Just curious is all, don;t read into it!!!

I also went from a '99 ZX9 to an '06 Z1000 and then to a ZRX for the road. The ZRX is a good enough performer for road riding but you have the extra comfort of the upright riding position. The only time I wish I had a sportsbike is when the pace really picks up and you are working the ZRX much harder than the well set up sportsbikes with good riders in order to keep up, but by then you are really riding too fast for the road and should probably let commonsense prevail and back off.
Really you are better off just riding all of them so you know how YOU feel about each model and go from there........ and you will end up modifying a ZRX if you get one, they all do eventually.

You can ride the ZRX lazier if you choose to and the Z feels more like you are riding a dirt bike.

One is Big solid and stable, the other is flighty and nervous. Or to put it another way, One is a broad sword, the other a scalple. Hows that

Not descriptive enough for me.
Eg: the rex despite it's weight changes direction rapidly, has immense ground clearance, holds a line OK once on it's side, has the bottom and mid to make it easy to travel rapidly without having to flog it, but us a little top heavy, doesn't pull up all that well and the suspension struggles on bumpy roads.
So NOW tell me how the Z goes Phil.

Its light, it changes direction much quicker than the ZRX, has not nuch bottom end under about 4, just like the 9 (well, compared to a zrx

it fells like there isnt much) Once the engine spins over 6K its
very lively and spins up
very quickly. Maybe not so in std form - but mine is not std. Even Harv who rides with us and has an 03 Zed rode mine and was blown away how different it felt to his. Mine doesnt like bumpy roads too much, gets a bit nervous and flighty ATM (but I know how to fix that - just havent had the time). Disco has also ridden mine back to back with his 09 - they are very different.
Now when you come up to shout me those cutlets and pick up your brake lines have a go and see for yourself

Does it have as much ground clearance as a Well set up Rex?

hey!
im not that predictable...
ok.. well maybe i am.
Went and rode one of the new 10's today. It was. Different. I could see myself having a lot of fun on that bike. Looks wise.. its just not doing it for me. I am currently scoring it about a 7/10.. wife scored it a 'i cant sit on that. Sorry for not being a tiny...... (insert rest of rant here)'. As such, for this one.. im sticking to the 9.
As pathetic as this sounds, im actually really very keen to get my hands on a zx12 to ride. Pathetic. I know. But it does really do everything i want it to. It's newer than my bike, fuel injected, seems to still have some level of comfort factor and lets face it.. looks identical just a bit more modern... ie... exactly what i would want.... Some points here make me think perhaps its not going to work out though. However, worth a try as soon as i can hunt one down to try.

Come down to Adelaide with ya lovely for a weekend mate, you can ride one of the fleet I have here and a great excuse to have a party and increase the gene pool
Yeah but that ten is the best handling bike I have ever ridden, that on its own doesn't say a lot about me.

go the 10, the 9 was a sick bike i reckon, heaps of awesome mid range power and really punchy, but the 10 was insane, both the 04 and the 08 i owned!
never rode a 14, but id happily own another 10 any day

i have owned a 9,10 x2 (crim and bug) and now a 14 2010 ... the 14 set up correctly for my liking and its almost finished would win for me, just comes down to prefference.... please dont shoot me fellas but maybe try looking outside of kawasaki (which i dont recommend

) maybe you will find what your looking for in a cbr or vfr or even a tlr1000 (ihad one and loved it)... i hope you catch my drift.
