The family were all given a 3am wake up call Friday morning. Mum had slipped markedly and was having difficulty breathing. I was the last to arrive at around lunchtime. Thankfully for me, she Hung around for me, which I expected she would. I spent till midnight last night with her, but she is unconscious now so may or may not know we are there. I am leaving now to go back up to the hospital again. I would ask of those who are religious to pray to whatever god you barrack for, to take her. And tell him/her to Fucking hurry up and get on with it. She's never done a bad deed to anyone and doesn't deserve this bullshit ending.

Mate I don't know you from a bar of soap but my thoughts are with you, your Motherand your family today.
I lost my Father to a heart attack. Golf was our thing and the day before I was too tired so pulled out of what would have been our last game together. Didn't have a chance to say goodbye and that cut me up for many years. My only advise is watch for increases in normal behaviour (smoking, drinking etc) as they sneak up on you. I didn't see it until I woke up in hospital with alcohole poisoning a damaged pancriaus (sp??) and now type 2 diabeties for the rest of my life. Talk to people, go out and do things (espesially on those days that you just don't want to). I found the strongest emotion I have is anger (still to this day 9 years later) so I choose to vent (not physically to other people) and not drink. Just my way. People understand.
May her passing be swift and your memories last forever.

And yes......we are lucky we have all had a chance to say our goodbyes. Many don't get the chance.

Think of it as a blessing that it didn't go on a whole lot longer as that would have been painful for everyone. At least she got to see everyone before she went, and equally as importantly, they got to see her & say goodbye. You'll be in my thoughts.
Best wishes mate.

My grandmother passed away late last night in the UK, hopefully they'll keep each other company...
Take care of yourself...

Thanks one and all. It's strange to say this, but, when I got the phone call at close to midnight, it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. It was an immense relief to know she was no longer suffering in pain and struggling to breath. It was heartbreaking to watch.

But, as much as it hurts, and fuck me it does hurt, it is also a very happy occasion to know she will be comfortable; and right now most likely having a good old catch up with her mum and dad. Her dad was an amazing man, one who I have spoken of in here occasionally. An amazing presence, calm, strong, warm. Right now they would be enjoying themselves I would imagine, with my grandfather telling her all about the things i've done since he died, that mum never knew about!!
