marty i think you hit it on the head the answering the yes or no with riders new and old who has or hasn't got full comp ,3rd party and no cover,,,,,,,,,i have had trouble with insurance before (both 3rd party and even full comp) that caused a heap of shit for me in the past ,,,,,it's only when you end up in court knowing you are in the right and some rich f#ck takes you to the cleaners,,,,,,i don't mind riding with people i know(their riding style )but hopefully they have some type of cover,,,,,just in case when shit happens,,,,,,at the time of my last post there were too many turkeys involved(gobble gobble)and i just couldn't explain it better

cheers paul

A question or two please - for those who say you won't ride with someone who hasn't got insurance (well at at least 3rd part property) why the fuck do you ride on the road at all?
The last time I checked you only need CTP (green slip in NSW) to register a vehicle, thus that makes me suggest there are potentially a lot of bike and cars that only have CTP on the road. Thus you are actually riding/ driving with them every day which sort of makes your statement about not riding with uninsured riders a little backward.
Before you head out do you check that everyone who you may pass has insurance? Rhetorical and stupid question, so stop making stupid comments about not riding with uninsured riders.

CTP and Third Party Insurance are NOT the same thing

One pertains to medical costs only (CTP) of others (not you) and the other is for damage to other vehicles/property/etc in the case of you causing an accident

Thank you for that insight, I was always wondering why I had to pay 3rd party insurance twice

what was your point?
Mine was that those who say they won't ride with uninsured do so everyday, only that they don't know who is and who isn't

CTP does not cover vehicles only people / personal injury
Compulsory Third Party (‘CTP’) insurance is personal injury insurance that is
mandatory for every motor vehicle registered in Australia.
CTP insurance indemnifies vehicle owners and drivers who are legally liable
for personal injury caused to any other party in the event of a motor vehicle
accident. It will cover you for personal injury claims made against you by
other road users such as drivers, passengers, pedestrians, cyclists,
motorcyclists and pillion passengers involved in a motor vehicle accident.
Edit..... Phil beat me to it

My point was that some people (not saying you) seem to think its the same thing and that if they pay the CTP at rego thats it - they are insured. Your post reminded me how stupid this whole "are you insured" thing is anyway - as you rightfully point out.
Thats why I pay insurance for. so that in the event of an accident - that is not my fault - the person that caused the accident is hunted down and made pay by my insurance company - not me.
I agree with your point - there are lots on dumb sh*ts out there that have no idea.

hmmm...life experience No 17
unfortunately/fortunately most of us who have been riding for years have already come across this phenomenon
as you say its better to be a Kawasaki pilot

The great KSRC Victorian ride day rings some bells.........
Just don't overtake on corners MMMMMKAY?

To tell you the truth guys

.......... I'd almost rather ride with an uninsured pilot that an insured one, for various reasons:
1. He/she's likely to be more careful than someone who is insured for fear of crashing their beloved bike.
2. He/she's likely to be a more experienced and capable rider and is sufficiently confident in their abilities not to need insurance, and generally (hopefully) will be more careful also.
At the end of the day my greater concern bares on my health not my bike, the bike is replaceable but I'm not
