If you KNOW your bike does not conform to the law, you shouldn't complain bitterly when you're pinged. It doesn't mean you're being walked over. It means that you've taken a gamble and lost. Diddums.

I personally think it's a little bit silly to ride without mirrors. Saying that the stock ones are useless won't wash either. A 10's mirrors are not the worst I've used.

Thought you'd bite at that. Doesn't invalidate the point. It's puerile to complain about getting pinged for knowingly doing the wrong thing (according to the current rules). Complaining that the regulations are stupid's quite another matter.

"Pinged" is something I would expect from a Sonar. Isn't it "Pinched" or is that another Americanisation of a word that I will not accept either?
