What you are looking at is a 1981 z750L1. Basically stock, has a 4-1 exhaust I built for it, re-jetted stock carbies, starter motor has been removed and z650 kickstarter fitted - thats about it for the motor department. The front end is from a 1986 XT600, with some internal mods. Rear end is stock, apart from the Hagon MX shocks. The tank is from a z750 LTD (custom), and the seat is from a kawasaki AG 100, not sure what model

a farm bike

- Basically it is mainly stock Kwakka bits, with a Yammie front end.
I got this bike a few years ago for about $300, it had been pranged across a roundabout by its owner, who was 3/4 pissed when he threw it away. Busted exhaust, busted front wheel, instruments etc, other than that it was straight, and had just had a complete carby rebuild.......All I had to do was knock up a 'zorst system, fit some wire wheels from a z650, and heh presto, she was a runner.....
I will post up some other shots of this bike from over the years, it has had a few different looks in its lifetime

. Been a great little rig, saw 200 on the dial once coming back from central NSW some years ago....

Fully - 3 months. I spent most of this afternoon belting around the burbs, to make sure everything is working OK. All seems good at this stage, it will need new pads and probably a new braided front brake line, some other minor things to be tidied up, but by and large I am really happy with it. Really comfortable, and should be an absolute weapon up in the fire trails .....

*gives it some thought*........it would be a great paddock bike, but a bit slow through the Snowies methinks
(Mind wanders........Supermotard tyres.......oversize disc.....

)

thanks Mel, it feels really comfy to ride, and I got a few strange looks from the cage-drivers at the lights

. I am hangin' to get it up the mountains.....
WOOOHOOO!!! I was right!!!
bite me you cheeky whippersnapper !!!! (

well, it is *old*, and it sure won't win any beauty contests

), and when you build a better one, then post it up mate

A vision of madness perhaps ??

You will have to take it for a ride mate, you will be *very* surprised I reckon .

Took the beast for a quick spin into the (very) lower mountains today, only a couple of hours to see what falls off

, and how much of a pig is it *really* going to be ??
Good news - nothing fell off. Bad news - it pushes the front something chronic

but that was expected .
On the open high-speed (+130) dirt roads, it was just fantastic.

the suspension works great, I won't need to get heavier-rated fork springs

, and the MX Hagons are *sublime* - thanks Darryl at Moose Racing (Melbourne) - if you own a twin-shock bike and need some new rear units, you should give them a go - they can be custom-built for your weight, riding style etc etc, and for a way better price than Ikon's...
Just glad it had a full tank of juice, at least today wasn't a total washout

Had another blast up in the local mountains this morning - got a couple of good photos.........there are a couple of niggling *minor* issues (the carbs need a good tub), but apart from that, it went pretty well.
The exhaust sytem has already been changed over to an older 4-1 I made years ago for this bike, it has much better low-down response, and doesn't let the motor rev past 8k

- It also gave more ground clearance, and is less noisier than the first exhaust system used........

For some reason I've only just ventured into this thread, and all I can say is....
WTF???
Dr. Frankengos?

it was just an idea we had during a normal Friday-night bullshit session at a mates house - He was bored with riding up in the mountains by himself, so I built this to go riding up there as well.......it is just a heap of fun, gets fully sideways like a dirt-tracker

, but pushes the front-end a bit in corners
I have a really trick MX bike, but it can't be registered

, which is a total prick, because it has some *real* balls.

YZ500 with u/side down forks, and heaps of other good mods. It is really quick off the mark, only a 4-speed, but geared to do the ton

It was also a basket-case $100 special, spent a *few* years on this rebuild, but worth every cent. Its an absolute weapon
I'll take a couple of photos and bung 'em up.........

Hey Gos bikes look great.

BTW that YZ looks a lot like my old TT600- couldn't you find a TT or XT frame and acquire the rego details off that? (Restamp frame and add compliance plate?) I know a guy up here who is planning to register a KX500 using a KDX200 frame. (He reckons they are the same frame- I'm not sure. He has to add a coil to run the headlight too.)

cheers mate - TT and XT frames look similiar, but are bigger to accomodate the tall 4-stroke engine, and they are mild steel

, this thing is chrome-moly, only weighs 105kg before fuel

its lighter than a KTM300 !!
I have added a lighting coil from an IT, so the headlight and tailight work, but we don't have a 'Recreational Rego' scheme like they do in Victoria............I better get onto the local DSMRA and see if anything is in the pipeline......
The YZ was the fastest-accelerating bike in my shed, until the 12 came along

It rips your bloody arms out when it comes *on the pipe*
