Yes i also got the dreaded email and might look for a cheap 512 connection for a while, i dont live near the yuppies so adsl 2 could be a long time coming as well.

worry a bit about going to the no name brands i have never heard of they might just go Bump in the night.

iinet, nope, but if you do buy the modem over 24 months you have to pay out the remainder if you break early.

I pay $5 less for 8Gb more currently but if the email from TPG comes and it seems inevitable then I guess i'm shopping around, can get their current 512k plan for same price but don't want to drop back to a third of current speed for smae money, who you with Stereo?

Think of it this way....

Maximum theoretical download speed on a 1500 connection is 187.5KBps

Maximum theoretical download speed on a 512 connection is 64KBps

Looks scary like that. Doesn't it?

But then, if you compare a 512 connection to a 56k dialup connection with a maximum theoretical download speed of 7KBps.....

Jase, quite happy with 1500, would change to ADSL 2 if it becomes an option, would be reasonably happy with 2400k or more too :)

Am sure I could live with 512k but would rather have the 1500 still. Dialup is slash wrists type stuff, deal with it at mums because I have too, that's more than enough.

Well, I signed up with Exetel today. Cya TPG.

Now I just have to wait for my exchange to become ADSL2 enabled.

Well I still haven't received an email from them, now shaped though until the 21st :( 20Gb goes quick sometimes.

Jase, give us an update in a month or two when you're churned and on Exetel please and let us know how it is (just in case I have to jump ship myself).

im with iinet, and i've alredy chewed up my 5gig/month peak limit, it resets to 0 on the 20th *sigh*. However in the meantim off peak 00:00hrs ->07:00hrs) has another 2-3 gig to go, so hello queueing up downloads before bedtime!
