Yeah I rang today, and had to give my VIN & Recall ref No, and was told they'd order the recall kit and ring back when it arrived to make an appointment to get it installed
What I find strange is, on the letter they mention that its the
Generator thats faulty.. Correct me if im wrong but isnt a generator the stator? Yet everyone is mentioning the regulator/rectifier ? Unless both get replaced( highly doubt it though)

Sooooo the trackbike is 2nd hand can be reregistered if I wanted. So can I just ring a dealer with my Vin No etc or do I have to update the ownership with Kawasaki directly first? Sorry if this has been answered Im too busy reading rubbish in another thread

I received an extra bit on the bottom of the letter (and a reply paid envelope) to fill out if the bike had been sold to someone else so they could be notified of the recall

Its probably worth ringing a dealership with your VIN and seeing if they can do something about it though:kuda:

On the Kawasaki Australia website there is a contact page & you can fill out an enquiry form with your details( name, address, VIN etc) & request a recall letter. They will then send you an email with an attachment letter for you to print out & take to your dealer. They will update their records with the information you provide them.
There is a recall reference no on the letter that the dealer requires along with your model no & VIN no so they can put the order in.

This link was posted on zx10r.net with the service bulletin reference to regulator/rectifier.

Dealer has my updated details now and are ordering my replacement rectifier they said 2 were done under warranty previously and it's a world wide recall, est 45 min to replace and 1 bolt's a bitch to get thread started.
Good stuff Kawasaki they could of just ignored this one given that bikes affected are nearly outside there warranty periods now.
Also first post edited with good info

They're saying that they'll cover the cost of previous regulator repairs as well. Sweeet.
Now, to find that bloody invoice!

Its not a difficult job, it can be removed & replaced in under 30 mins.
2 bolts hold the regulator in place.
KSRC removal & installation directions
A. Open frosty Heineken and have one swig.
B. Remove R inner front cowling (gives you access to lower regulator bracket bolt)
C. Remove R inner upper cowling (gives you access to upper regulator bracket bolt)
D. Have another swig of your frosty Heineken, if there any contents left in your Heineken after that swig consider yourself a wuss.
E. Unplug regulator
F. Remove upper and lower regulator bolts.
F. Replace regulator

Got my recall for my 2010 ZX10 dated 28th Feb which stated "an abnormal condition may occur with the generator which could cause the engine to be hard to start and may result in poor engine performance or stalling. This may result in a motor incident."
There was also a "Detail Advice Form" attached to advise whether (and to whom) the bike had been disposed of. It had all my details including the VIN so would guess they would fix it on the strength of that . The recall number was DAD372A.

Just got mine back.
Regulator still regulates, rectifier still rectifies, alternator still alternates and i guess the generator still generates since there was no difference when i rode it before and after........but better safe then sorry
Also AgingRs, what rear rack is that?????

Hi Boban - it's a ventura rack with the sports rack fitted. Here's how ventura describe it :-
"The Sport-Rack can be used when you only need to carry a small amount of luggage, spare gloves, rain suit etc. You simply remove the Pack-Rack and fit the Sport-Rack in exactly the same way. We have a Sport-Pack that is specifically made for this purpose."
It's handy if you don't want to carry the big bloody bag!
Cheers

Wow, seems like a lot of members here got the duds. I called the dealer I bought mine off today and I'm one of the lucky ones. Seems mine was built just prior to the the dodgy ones.
