That could be your problem right there. It sounds like you failed the attitude test and he got you for whatever he could pin you for, just to teach you a lesson. Even if they are being a wanker and are on a power trip, be polite and don't say anything that could aggravate them and it will save you a lot of hassle.
Well no nelso.. when i get pulled over, im allways polite till i see the way they are with me, its why i havent had a ticket in over 5 years... like the guy that pulled me over up the reefton a few years back on the 10, i was fair up it up the range, two up, and making a lot of noise, when he pulled me over he was polite, friendly, so treated him the same way, end result, he knew what i was doing, i knew what i was doing, all he said to kazz was, did u manage to hang on thru all of that luv, and at me, and said, mate weve heard u coming from warbuton!!! then he looked at a pair of VERY well used tyres, as in balls of rubber peeling of the edges, so we both knew. went thru the usual, licence check, breath test, and he was fine, just had a bit of a chat about that sort of riding two up... not a prob with that and sent me on my way, no ticket, no agro from or him or me, but he was a older cop...
but this tool, just started with it as soon as i pulled up, short arse, cocky little runt, maybe he had allready been givin a hard time that morn?? still no reason to take it out on me...
Handed over the licence, did the breath test without giving him a hassle.. he was just one of those little runts that u just cant talk to.. or else i would have..
All fair in love and war... he starts been a prick, i will start back... simple..

As much as it pains me to say this - all is not fair in love and war.

He wears the uniform and writes out the tickets. You don't.

If he starts being a prick - and you start back - then prepare for a world of pain. Yes its unfair yes it sucks arse etc etc

But that is how it is. Smile and nod and wave, shut your mouth at all times unless you have to answer a question - and maybe just maybe he might leave things alone.

What I can *guarantee* you - is that at the first sign of a smart mouth - wether you think you are justified is irrelevant - then you can bank on most coppers giving you as much grief as they can. Looks to me - with old mate giving you a ticket for a stock fender  - he was looking for anything he possibly could and then some.

This is advice from someone who has almost 100 traffic offences to his name......so I am coming from an informed position you might say

Here u Gos... didnt get a ticket, just a defect, which will be removed tomorro after work..
NO matter how much i smiled and offered to suck his cock, he was still going to be a pig...
Just not a very smart one.. because he missed a couple of things he should have got me for.... like a dissconected front brake switch, and a few orther things... and he missed the same on kazz's 636, its got rearsets with no brake light switch, hell as he was crawling all over it, i was standing there looking at the switch zip tied to the frame, and he missed it alltogether, but he was kneeling down running his hands over my tyres... WTF that got to do with anything??? they were well and truely legal, just well scrubbed in... just not as smart as he thort he was....

I am always the epitome of politeness until they put pen to paper for something which is petty. If I am speeding, I cop it on the chin, if I am overtaking over double lines without need to avoid an obstacle I'll cop it politely even when pen is put to paper. But, if pen is put to paper for something such as a stock standard factory fitted ADR compliant part, then they would cop the full spray and justifiably so. The facts are that the majority of the officers out there on the roads don't actually KNOW the ADR requirements.

For all you interstaters, I would advise downloading a copy of the relevant ADR's and keeping them under your seat. It saved a mate of mine some aggravation and a ticket a while back.

Sounds like u ran into a specific officer,by this i mean there is a certain cop that is in that area that is well known and even most coppers dont like him, he is even well known to the tow truck boys up there that have the anti hoon contract.I know this first hand and he definetly fits the desription.

  Prob the one mal..... he did have a attitude, and despite what nelso said.. when i pulled up, i was polite and said something like how u going mate, usual thing, no smile, no hi back, just get off ur bike and show me ur licence, then all the rest of the standover crap, take ur helmet off, well yes i say, but i would like to get off my bike first ect..
The sad part of all this shit is that maryville is missing out on a lot of trade, and god forbid they need it, after what they went thru... 3/4 of their town wiped off the map..100 people dead, and there still only just trying to rebuild now, and the bike trade is staying away in droves... thats the sad part..

From the point of view of the copper that has scraped heaps of riders out of the bushes and off the roads, then had to deliver the bad news to the bikers missus and kids - I am not surprised 1 little bit that he wasn't happy and cheerful. Think about it from their side for a minute - they see all the shit side that you and heaps of other punters rarely see or acknowledge - but somehow he is a prick for not cracking jokes with you when he pulls you over ? Methinks that some people need to look at the big picture......

the sad part of that is that it somehow seems to be the coppers fault that riders break the law (not necessarily you, but heh, every weekend they book punters for breaking the law don't they ?) - and then the same coppers wear the blame for the local community not being able to re-build ? Its a bit of a leap don't you think ?

I would put it to you that the riders who don't break the law and spend their money at the Marysville Bakery ( I used to be one of these - the bakery bit anyway... ;) ) are doing their level best to help out that particular community ?

I think there's just a lil' bit of a difference between booking someone for doing something wrong and pulling out the ol' defect book for a stock fender. That right there is a lil' something called a power trip. I have seen a copper get gang bashed for shit like that. Best part was no one got charged and the cop got transferred because even his boss knew he had it coming.

And that it mate, getting pulled over for check, blow in the bag, not a pronlem, thats policing... not nick picking, just because they think they can...
And Gos i hear what ur saying, i wouldnt like to picking bodies up either, have sat on the side of the road a couple of times after a mate has died, one time for 40 min waiting for a ambo to arrive while john lay dying, that i will never forget... but just a bit of common sense is all we ask for. on sunday, we were not speeding, if so i would have a ticket for it hey... we were just out for a quiet ride, feed at the bakery, thats it..

Common sense - if it was common, everyone would have it. The coppers would love some common sense from riders too, its a 2-way street. Sorry to hear about your mates death, it is something we all face every time we pull on a lid. I have no doubt that this particular copper up on the Spur may be full of his own self-importance - unfortunately for everyone concerned, this will remain the case until he is shifted to another location. In the meantime - well at least you know his MO now, and may be in a position to do something about it.

the best part would be seeing the look on your face as your sister was being gang-raped by a pack of knuckle-dragging fuckheads, while you begged the coppers to turn up and sort it out.

Thanks for your insight. Its always great to see how happy people are when cops get bashed. Or ambos or firies. These sort of cocksuckers (ie people like you) need to be put on a *Do Not Respond* list for all emergency services.

Gos, I know and have dealt with this cop. Many of us in Vic have. He has been an arsehole for the last 15 years that I have known of him. He takes his job seriously for sure, but he meters out rudeness and aggression with unbridled enthusiasm. He speaks to people like they are pieces of shit, he verbally abuses them and I have seen his senior pull him off a bike rider he was harrassing at a check point and being told in front of the member of the public to pull his head in. So it is not a matter of BG starting all this off. The guy is a prick. No arguments from the public, nor those on the job who know or know of him. My mate is a senior now and he knows him and both he and I received a ticket off him some 12 or so years back for doing under 5 klms over on an open stretch with no intersections. We were actually cruising as it was 35 degrees and we were roasting.

And thats the point marty... as i pulled up, the first thing i said and allways do, is how u going mate... then gauge his mood, if u get a good one then ur both off on the right path, and usually goes ok.. all we got was attitude from the first word that came out of his mouth
