Yeah that'd do LOL
MickLC wrote:They aren't the most trainable breed in the world, so being big you need something that will help control them while they learn to walk to heel. We've found the Halti to work the best, plus it's easier to hold them when they see something they want to chase and forget any training they've had.
... So yeah, they aren't a beginners dog, but I guess you already knew that, plus be prepared to say goodbye to them after 9 or so years as the big, old breeds don't live so long :(
Thanks for that! When we finally find a house with a big enough backyard, i want something thats super active and wants to get out a chase a ball or stick for a couple of hours. I've got it down to 5 breeds, - Bull Terrier (the long white faced ones), Rottweiler, Chocolate Lab, Cocker Spaniel, Or a Blue Pitbull and supa wants a Pug (FFS). We've always had big 'ferocious' dogs, and theyve been nothing but complete pansies and wouldnt hurt a fly.

Striker (dec) Registered name KCC Quick heel blue dash, both parents australian champions.
He would strike at your heels when he was a pup so thats how he got his name, he was brilliant with the beefers on the farm and not good at all with the sheep. His best mate was the house cat and the play fights those 2 had were hillarious

Missy (dec)was a rescue animal and not by conventional means, breeding: Mastif x Ridgeback x Pitbull. Best dog/mate I have ever had as far as a pet and never bit a human, mind you cats seemed to be scarce in our area.

Dakota was 1 of 7 in a litter from Missy, father was a Blue Roan English Cocker Spaniel  She went to a good home after an extended stay with me until TnT picked her up in Qld, is grown up now, she is unwisely mistaken for a labrador

Had many other farm dogs but were never pets as such. Kelpies, border collies.

From Missy's breeding I'd say that was one brave spaniel...

No worries mate. From the sounds of it you definitely don't want Deerhounds. The most we've been able to manage is them bringing a ball back about three times, then they just lose interest....give them something live to chase though and I reckon they'd stay focussed for quite a while.

Also when you get home tonight can you please give Supa a slap upside the head from me for wanting a Pug...he's not Paris Hilton!!!

Bugger, cause theyre adorable! I'm pretty definite its gotta be active. Gives me motivation to be more active too. Uh yeh, the only way he's getting a pug is if i get a big chunk of carbon on my left hand and it'll be a chew toy for what ever dog i do end up getting. He seemed pretty okay with that lol

vanrootn - Bosley is so adorably gorgeous :) I love boxers (have had a couple) and he looks like a very special one ;)

Well, the double kennel got built last weekend, so following the "build it and they will come" theory, I will hopefully, finally, have some pics to post in here shortly :D And not a moment too soon!

RIP "Flip" - This morning the family's pure bred Border Collie (runt that no one wanted) died. 15yrs. The cold was too much for her this year dispite her palace in the garage.

My sister was telling her eldest Makayla (3yrs) She told her flip had died and was up with the stars.
Makayla replied "she will have no freinds up there so she will come back" :D

Well we saw our puppy dogs. We went and played with them at the rescue for an hour and a half today. Was so hard watching them go back into their cages :(

We get to pick them up next weekend after they have a final vet check... I can't wait!!! Oh, and we're supposed to have someone come over and check we have a safe environment and are good puppy owners, before we can pick them up, but I'm sure we'll pass :)

Am so excited!!! toothy10.gif toothy10.gif toothy10.gif toothy10.gif toothy10.gif toothy10.gif
