passed muster for the Historic examination

I walked away from the motor registry this arvo with a new Historic plate !!!

WOO HOO !! now I can terrorise the 'burbs with some stinky R30 goodness !!!

Very happy with the results today mate.....

The little stinkwheels made its maiden voyage on a VJMC run today, and got there and back without any major drama. Started the ride with a full tank of R30-premix goodness, with NFI if the bike would make it out of the suburb or not....but no problems at all ! PC was riding shotgun on the Black Pearl, and with Shinny along for the first part of the ride......off we went.

Well, some things became clear right away....

#1 - the seat is like a plank of wood. Its comfortable for about 5 minutes....and thats it....
#2 - Vibrates like hell through the footpegs - even though they have a big rubber footpeg cover...
#3 - Around the 'burbs - it can be ridden around with only 4-5k on the tacho. But as soon as you hit even a slight incline, then its down a gear and put the boot in.
#4 - On the open road - it seems to run pretty well around 5-6k, and really starts to work good above 6k. Quick enough through the traffic....
#5 - Needs a shitload of clutch-slip to get off the mark......but it sounds great doing it ! Like a race-start everytime.....

We had a great roll-up for the first local VJMC ride of 2011, and the little 2fiddy went well out on the country roads......just need to row up and down the box a lot more than on bigger 4-strokes.

One small issue - the l/h muffler came adrift on the second stretch after morning tea. PC picked it up, and its back on now, re-welded. The good news is that 2 mufflers didn't fall off !

On the way home from the afternoon entertainment (local transport show) - it made some horrendous noises from the gearbox as we pulled up to a set of traffic lights.... - but after stopping, and selecting neutral again - it started OK and didn't make any more noises......I think it must have been a false neutral.

So there you go - first time out, it goes like a little champion, and I can't wait to get some wire wheels laced up, logbooked - and out in P4 250cc class, to have some fun with MickLC in the PCRA racing later this year !

yes, starting a bike by hand is pretty special eh

R30 pre-mix is the best smell in the world

Shameful, but i only just came across this acquisition thread now . Nice find Gos, certainly a worthy birthday pressie. Looking forward to any pics/updates on this old bird.

The Runt will be getting a paint-job fairly soon - have to get rid of that Suzuki-blue ! - and some old-school drum-brake hubs are already on the way (thanks ebay ) so the plan is a Winning Lime paintjob, with spoked rims and drum brakes.

Great news Gos! Great to see the black pearl too.
