Thanks all. Sadly for now i'll be doing just enough to the bike to get her up and running again. In the space of about three weeks we'll have spent $1000 on the regos for the car and bike, I just put on a new front tire, brought a new helmet, and have to pay rates for the house we still own in Maryborough so cash is too thin to spend the big $$$ I WANT to. (There's obviously a huge differance between what I want and what I need)

Discussions with the minister of war and finance have concluded with us initially making sure its going first and then over the next few weeks some cash will be put into tidying things up.

All medical expenses covered by TAC and if I have any more than 5 days of work application goes through them re loss of income. I'll be back at work on Sunday night though unless my foot gets worse , which it shouldn't. Won't be out mingling with the public though, probably just working the front counter to play it safe.

Here's the angle i'm playing on the bike gear...........

When my wife and I last arranged our home and contents insurance they asked us to name up to 5 personal items that would be covered no matter if they were in or outside the house. The usual suspects like laptops, cameras, video cameras all came up and then I had the bright idea to add "motorcycle gear" to the list so that if ever any of it was stolen, lost or damaged it could be replaced.

I contcted our insurance company and told them what has happened. They have stated that I can claim to a value of $5000 with no single article value over $1000. So all my gear will be replaced and it will cost me an excess of $100.

I'm chalking it up as a win.

Finally a little ray of sunshine. Claim all the gear to full recommended retail price, then only replace what you have to. Buy it all cheap or online as you now know yr shark helmet size. Then use the balance to assist in funding bike repairs. Shit, if you could wrangle a decent enough gear pricing quote, you might have enough to buy another 7!

I'm not going to push it. They're requesting either reciepts or photos of all the gear. The helmet is an easy one to get the reciept for . The rest will be photo's. Once they've seen all that then it might come down to me also getting quotes to replace. Obviously "Motorcycle boots" and "Textile pants" draws a pretty broad sword so I might have some luck. Your right about having something left over for the bike repair though. It would be handy

To their defence they were jumped on by a zx7r

Hopefully I will get some better quality boots next purchase. I guess its the same for all gear, you get what you pay for. I think they've held up well considering, and other than getting my foot squashed they successfully served their purpose. There is no other bruising or scratches on or around the foot/ankle.

Yeah Id take that as a win......sounds like ur doing alright considering wat happend.....my mate hite a roo at like 50km/h (yep even though he was on a big trumpy trophy) he just ducked down and tried to ride through her rather then brake and risk loosing control with the resulting impact......result was that he continued riding and a quick check in the mirror saw a winded and hurt roo

Hey BTW Corey, where did you get that 7??? Did you buy it like that or paint it yourself??? reason I ask, is I had a good mate of mine who I sold a new 7 to in 1996 and he repainted it white a few years down the track (Like maybe . Didn't happen to buy it off a little Chilean guy????

Pretty much what I did to a P in 1996. Highsided on some white lines commuting to work. Same deal, peak hour traffic didn't stop. Did the muffler, footrest hanger, clip on, brake lever, THE fairing, cowl, pillion grab handle, brake lever.

Hopefully, a well researched insurance claim can assist to a high degree in rectifying the damage. Don't fighter it mate, they are such a beautiful bike even today. You have painted it once, you can do it again. If your patient, the bits will turn up at the right price. Try the Chinese sites for stuff.

Actually got a set of OEM Bars complete with switchblocks.
