Leanne's track bike might not be covered. We are waiting to hear from the assessor to see if our insurance covers unregistered bikes but she is flat out with so many claims it might take a while to find out. Other financial costs will also include the three lots of excesses so we will be out of pocket a couple of grand at least.
We found out yesterday that our hot water tank is blown so the cold water shower last night and this morning was a bit unpleasant. Luckily Leanne can shower at work so it's only me suffering until we can get it fixed. We have no lawn mower either now and the lawns are already overgrown after all the rain so the house will look like we are unemployed for a while until they agree to replace it.
The last two days have been absolutely exhausting pulling everything out of the garage, cleaning stuff that could be saved and categorising stuff that needs to be tossed. All I can say is that my wife is a dead set legend and just powered on like a machine getting the job done and still managed to be loving and caring no matter how exhausted she was. I can't believe how lucky I am to be married to someone so awesome.
Thanks again to everyone that has sent support through PM's, posts and SMS's. Some of the advice has been great and it's good to hear that people care when shit like this happens so it's greatly appreciated.

The assessor was going to check when she wrote up the report but she has been flat out all week with all of the floods that have happened in this area so it could take her a while to get to it.

We just realised we have to claim on the house AND the contents insurance and with the two bikes it's $2,300 for all of the excesses.

Not fucken happy! Let this be a warning to other ignorant people who have never paid attention to their insurance like me, your hot water system and air conditioner are considered part of the house, not the contents like all of the other electrical items.

I stupidly thought the house was just the building and that we wouldn't need to claim on the house insurance.

Oh well, time to drop the dacks and bend over.

Sorry to hear Rob, glad to see it didn't get into the main part of the house.
Hope you can recover the bikes but just think you have an excuse now not to mow the fricken lawn
