The Gen 1 was an animal. Gen 2 was "refined." Gen 3 is a better allround rider's bike.
My Gen 4 2011 "10" is by far the more aggressive looking, it has more power( I need that extra power.......YEH, RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!).
It is an experience/joy to ride it...................very well behaved, think corner and it falls into that corner.
The guy down the road rides the BMW10000RR.....................his bike is faster???????????
I ride the Kwaka ZX10R.................................................my bike is faster????????????
Which bike is faster.....................................................who has the bigger tackle box??
All the bikes mentioned above are great, each with it's own character.
As the saying goes " horses for courses"
Your choice...................finances might be the decider?

Hmmmm.....These bikes are not built to go to work on everyday, They are race/track bikes!
For someone to insinuate that They have no interest in which race bike is faster would make them either not a very good racer or a liar!...
And for the record my "Tackle Box" is bigger!....will supply pic's upon request.

well that is your opinion but at least its a unique kawasaki design and not a (aprilia rsv front end cbr1000rr rear end ) clone!!!! lol

i expected so much from the 2011 model. all the hype last year in superbikes about the 2011 model and they are still at the back of the pack.

Aprillia front, hmmm vaigly, put them side by side and I would say not. cbr back end? no where near a clone.

I have the 2011 model so naturally my tackle box is the biggest, my bike is the fastest, and in my mind I have broken all the track records by at least 5 seconds world wide, oh and it is always all about me

Actually that's not quite true, the ZX12R is all that and more.

dude the S1000RR wasnt great in its first season either... but a couple of years in with good backing and a great rider it won the title. we just hope kawasaki can do both those second things...

It's getting good results in overseas domestic racing. especially anything where the rules limit modifications such as SSTK.

Actually that's not quite true, the ZX12R is all that and more.

The ZX-12R is a dinosaur...I say this with all due respect. In it's day it was good, but still no hayabusa!

The 2011 ZX10R is only a few months old...It's so new only a couple of people on this site have one!

So as for records go...In good time! It hasn't been around for 11years like the ZX12R

I'll buy into this argument...
I battled with this exact question re 2011 vs 2010 bang for buck ratio.
In the end I bought a new 2010 model zx10r for less than $14k.

Truth be told I absolutely dont regret my choice. Saved a packet and have a new bike that for me is comfortable, fast and handles well. It'll be a few years before I find it's limits I reckon.

It's not all celebration though, as exactly one week after buying it the popo came knocking....one of our WA multilane forward backward facing all signing all dancing whiz bang revenue raking cameras snapped me while overtaking on a country road doing 168kph. Fortunately I was out on my 2008 bandit - so that's now in the pound and I'm staring at my new zx10 parked in my lounge room for 6 months.

I too was tossing up between the 2010 bike and the 2011 bike and the $5000 price difference especially since I was never going to put it one road and use it as a pure race bike.

I bit the bullet and went for the 2011 bike for 3 reasons, one was looks, a pathetic reason but in race trim the 2011 machine is one of the sexiest looking machines around. The 2010 is a bit.. well... arse.

Reason 2 was the traction control, this seems to be the way of the future and it made sense to get something that was yet to become out of date rather than buy something that already was.

And the final reason was 5 other riders (2 of which are in my class) in our state champs were going to run these as well so support was always going to be there as well.

I am very happy with my choice as the handling on these is quite neutral, could do with a little lift at the back to make them turn in a bit better. But the overall balance is quite good. Brakes are utter rubbish, but always have been and the sooner Kawasaki tear up their Tokico contract the better.

The engine is the real jewel in the crown, once it winds up there has been nothing in in my class on the track that has been able to keep up with me on the drag up the hill and the run along Barbagallo's long straight.

And I'm also pretty damn happy with my finished product...

TurboR1 Good write up and looks Great....I think once i get mine off the trailer( No comments, Blurr,Wattie,Disco and Co) i may look next yr for a 2011 model to rebuild.
