Hey Dave....I started taking my 10 year old daughter to school and picking her up...Then off to sports on weekends etc etc....she's 12 now..the guys are spot on...

no skimping on bike gear for them...get tired of seeing some dads with their kids on the back...no protective clothing..

.Lets organise sometime a"kids friendly ride".

..i reckon we could get say mayb 6 to 7 riders? maybe more...you, me, Richo, Paul.......anyone else?

Pity about the NSW bit....
Kids here in Vic can start their Roadrace career at 9....
BTW next junior development day at Broadford is Sept 4th... all the kids need is a parent/guardian to accompany them ( and help with a bit of marshalling ), leathers, helmet, back protector, gloves and boots....they can hire one of the MV honda 50's for the day if they don't have a bike...and have a go...

I took my eldest for her first ride in one of those back pack baby carriers when she was very young . Just around a paddock , bit silly with hindsight . But she has always been keen to jump on the back with me where the other daughter won't go near the back of a bike .
Eldest is a shit pillion , always wanting to look around me and wants to go faster .
Great feeling having ya kid on the back and having a cruise together .

I've had both my kids on the back, my 16yr old daughter enjoys it but with only an er6n I can't really go too fast or lean too much. My 11yr old son is a lightweight and I worry I won't notice if he falls off !!

I'd like to take him on a group ride sometime but I think he'd be bored after a while as he is a fidgeter.
I have a waist strap but the handles themselves are too big and I don't think he feels comfortable holding onto them, you may have to make them smaller so their hands are snug.
+++++ 1 for the right gear, can't believe some riders out there that have the right gear themselves and the kids are in sneakers and tshirts !!

Dave, I found the "love handles" strap great with the younger kids as their arms aren't long enough to reach around and your bike doesn't have handles like a 9 or Rex for them to hang onto. After they get used to it, they soon learn to relax and go with the bike and will start letting go of it more and more.
