who cares if its law or not, its common courtesy and often there is a sign on the pole next to the pump saying to remove your helmet. how do they know that you arent going to go in there with your wallet out, then put it away and beat them to death, i know most of us arent like that, but if they cant identify you then naturally it will make them uncomfortable. given that you generally have to remove your helmet to enter and pay, is it really that hard to remove it before filling?

Just take your helmet off, its for piece of mind of the console operator, its not discrimination, it was a fair and simple request on his part, and by him asking you to do it, it became a condition of sale. Just stick to the servo you are a regular at and htfu
Yep, agreed 100%, i too am a Sevo local, and use that exact servo, always take off the lid and never had a problem, just a bit of courtesy in these crazy times, takes me an extra 40 seconds to fill up......

And don't forget...the person on the console is probably not the owner of the business...just a poor serv trying to earn a meager wage to be able to afford to ride himself. He does not set the rules but will get his arse kicked (by the owner) if he does not do what the master wants.

Also, by all means take your business elsewhere. There are just as many disgruntled customers at the one you are going to change to that will go to the one you are leaving. You will not influence the business, just have to go out of you way to get your fuel.

If it was the first time, wouldnt you give them another chance? It was only one staff member.... Just a thought.

If it's a one off servo just tell em you want the cash for the fuel or not....................

If it's your regular fill up point have some manners and get your lid off and say hello........... done and dusted ........ next please

Geez I am glad the local Mobil counter-staff know me well.......they let me sit on the bike to fill up (have done so safely for over 30 years), and wear my lid into the shop to pay.

Winter is the best time to take ya lid off - wear a balaclava underneath !!!

Safety is obviously a term you use loosely! ever heard of a thing called static electricity (obvoiusly NOT) just because it hasnt happened yet doesnt mean it wont!

See you on the news sometime maybe!

Yeh whatever Neil - I guess 30 years of testing for ( and NEVER finding) static electricity on the forecourt means SFA eh ??

All the *safety* experts in the world can kiss my arse mate - I ride a fuckin' motorcycle - you reckon that activity is inherently safe ??

You remain, as ever, an obnoxious twat.

Not too sure about the law bit, but if you try for a drive off, at leas without a helmet they can identify you....

Company policy maybe and courtesy, but law, I'm not so sure..... :)

I normally take mine off but thought I'd test it out today and see what happened. The pump wouldn't start until i got off the bike and when I went in to pay he politely asked if I could take the helmet off next time claiming it was the legal requirement. When I asked him if he would ask a Muslim to remove her burka he didn't know how to respond but agreed it was a big double standard, so I said "no worries mate, I'll take it off next time" and left. Poor bugger was just trying to fulfill his boss's requirements and wasn't that comfortable asking me to do it either so I think it is a bit slack to give them a gob full if they do ask.

At least your approaching it with the right attitude Nelso. They are just doing their masters bidding in order to not get an arse kicking.
