No calls, I had to pick up a personal job from Col, I do printing for him & the bike club he races in

that really sucks Tim - I've heard many similar stories.
fwiw I've never had tyres prepped, but always gotten the warning - being careful has always worked for me but perhaps I was just lucky.
If it's now come to light that the tyres were prepped, and still let go, you can only assume that either you made a silly mistake in steering adjustment, or there was something on the road (oil, scar, rubbish).
They're the only real reasons (apart from a problem tyre) for a front to let go like that.
In any case you made it through, and whatever actually happened you can learn from it. Every accident you get through is a learning experience, even if the 'fault' isn't yours.

On a positive note...I got to use my new Easy Trailer for the first time and it's good

I was surprised at how early into the corner the scrape marks started and how long they went for, it was an impressive slide. I tend to think perhaps a combination of new tyre and maybe something on the road to set it off sliding did the trick.

Major lessons I guess are

Even though tyres are prepped they can stil be slippery buggers, Having said that I've scrubbed a tyre in in 3.93 klm at EC so it's variable. be careful because you never know.

There is no substitute for good protective gear. If Tim didn't have hard armour under his Draggins he probably would've been sitting in an emergency room with his kneecap hanging in the breeze.

Newbies should all consider riding nakeds. If this was a Ninja 250 it probably would've been a $4000 stack plus lots of time off road. As it is a clutch lever and a big hammer will have the beast back on the road in a day.

Told you you'd be sore in the morning Tim, probably worth getting your shoulder checked.

If you need a hand getting the beasty back on road give me a yell....

Tim I would hazard a guess that both you & Glen sussed out the site for foreign objects or liquids, so its a weird one, I once came across a dude that had stacked in one of the roundabouts on Norwest Bvd & there was no explanation as to why he dropped the bike.... no oil no foreign matter no excessive speed etc

Yeah it was a bit weird. The corner is one you could punt around pretty hard. It was hard to tell if there was any crap around as it was dark and the little puffs of kevlar stuff from the draggin's were in the way

Yup i looked over the road as soon as it happened was totally confused. Then we had a good survey last night, and i had a good look this morning. There is a couple of tiny divots about 1cm deep the size of 20c pieces near my line but hardly
Expect that would cause it.

For mine it's 100% the tyre why bike went down

I've ridden that corner some mornings and everynight, 5 days a week, and most saturdays for the past 9 months.... Also Sometimes many times in both directions practicing lines, throttle control, body position, looking through corners etc etc...

Last night i took it as easy as i've ever taken... Moderate speed and maintatining throttle to KEEP the weight OFF the front

Just generally pissed, but i know things could be worse - counting my blessings

So True is that..... there is no such thing as a good stack but the ones where you can just walk away come pretty close.

Sorry to here Tim. I'm dumb-founded you didn't get the 'take it easy' rhetoric when you picked it up. I had the front replaced just before the Gingers run and the rear replaced straight after (one week apart) at the same place and both times he reminded about taking it easy.

I take it you wont be going back to MAW.

That's a bloody bugger about you're little off. It is amazing how "little spills" can turn into BIG BUCKS though...

Also, having just aquired a brand spankin new bike, they did say take it easy on the tyres for a bit. But exactly how long is a bit? I am no valentino rossi or anything, so not flying around corners and shit. BUT, I still wouldn't know what was fast enough to skid out OR how long it would be before they're scuffed in.

Can someone give me the heads up?
