Everyone agreed it was not a write-off and that someone in the insurance office was smoking crack. :) And now, QBE will be receiving a recommendation to repair Genki by the end of the day :kuda: I hugged the repairer. Woulda kissed him too if he wasn't so quick about dodging :D
WOOHOO! Excellent news Cath.

cath i went through this situation earlier in the year.

i ended up buying the bike that i fell in love with the first time i seen one, the z750 ;) even though it was a huge change from my 600 i loved it!.

go with what you love more cath, the ownership of a 04-05 10 like youv'e wanted for a while now that i know of  but everytime i ask hows your bike you speak of it like its gold! and its one sexy bike 8)

i loved my cbr600rr and wouldnt have got rid of it for a z750, but with either the insurance payout, or a new cbr600rr. i decided it was a perfect time to get my zeddy, and robs turned up  even better!

so as much as you love your 6 and all the good times you have had. let the good memories be good memories on your 6 and go out there and get a 10 to fulfill your motorcycling. thats what id do in your situation.

good luck be shore to let us know :) :)

oh and glen, perfect tracki 8)

I'm not sure I'm following along. It won't have a "write-off status" if I keep it. It will just be a bike that has been damaged, and I've taken a cash payout from the insurer and repaired it myself. It's just a repaired bike, nothing more or less (as far as I'm aware). Unless we're talking about different things, or I'm not getting something?
...
I was under the impression that if a bike is deemed a write off it is recorded. When a buyer runs a check they are told if the bike is stolen, has finance outstanding or has ever been written off. If you allow the bike to be written off and buy the bike back from the insurance company it will be deemed a write off, and will have to have an engineers report in order to be reregistered. If the bike is a statuatory write off, it is never allowed to be reregistered.

But, if they no longer consider the bike a write off, they your baby is repaired and the previous waffle is irrelavent :)

It would have been recorded as a Cat "C" write off > Cosmetic damage - Uneconomical to repair

but it seems Cath's charm has won through with the repairer and assessor and it will be repaired, so the love can go on ;)

It soons gets to an uneconimical position for insurers....... check out the price of new panels from Kawasaki - factor in nearly a grand for replacing the exhaust, - storage charges - labour - respray - stickers etc

God knows I don't know how the female brain works, but from a males perspective..............
it's never the same bike (or car) once it's been damaged, even slightly
Get the new one and you'll forget the old one really fast :D

I'm glad your keeping her, she is a gorgeous bike, one pulled into Pie today (almost thought of accidentally taking it for you for parts   but then thought I wouldn't have a very good name for myself at the Pits) and yeah I was saying to the man you know it is a bewdaful baby, and yeah like you said you luv riding her. I think the other thing is your not ready to part with her, you'll know when your ready and when the time is right, I say no point in forcing a seperation if your not ready for it, then there is always a chance of regret, from what you typed you had more pros than cons in the end to keep her. I will send smooth vibes your way for fixing your baby to. ;)

Is it just me or do most of the guys say to move on and get a new one? Any budding psychologists out their may have a theory as to why but I tend to agree with them. I know it is a moot point now but I would've taken the payout and bought it back off them to pillage a few parts and then sell it to Glen.

Are you talking about the generic "guys", or the specific, penis-owning "guys"?

The blokes. Many of the comments were saying go with your feelings but most of the blokes' preferences were to flick it and get a new one.
