I diasagree with this somewhat. I would much rather go riding with a bunch of racers or ex racers than most road riders! Most racers have skills far beyond those of most road riders and generally tend to ride more within their limits than most road riders as their skill set is far beyond those of most road riders. Therefore, when they are faced with a difficult situation, they are better equipped to deal with it. I have done more kilometres than most have had hot dinners and therefore watched loads of normal road riders unable to deal with unusual situations and therefore, crash!!!! Do a few years of racing and then come back and re-read your post then! I think you will find that your opinion may change! I know that after my three years at state and national level, I came back to the road a far better rider who rides further from my limits than previously! 8)[/quote]

couldnt agree more. you find that the these racers also have less to prove on the road. Compared to a typical boy racer that goes from corner exit to corner entry at full throttle then hits the brakes to try and get around the turn just to avoid another rider passing or getting further away!!!

I wonder how many of these racers have gone around those corners draggin the knee applying their racing skills to the road, hit gravel or bark and slid their bikes? I wonder if all these motorbike head-ons are the same riders trying to use "race lines" around corners only to discover they run into trouble because their lane is only a quater the size or less than the race track they are continually visiting?

and no, i'm not bagging every racer thats on the road, i would love to have a crack at it myself.

all this is away from the point i was trying to make. All the skill in the world don't mean sweet f@#k all if you only display the mentallity and judgement of a rhino on disco biscuits. and to get all this back into context with the thread, i believe THESE are the people the Police are out there to hastle.

Once again I will say...go racing and then comment on racers! I use race lines to this day on the road!! Why? Well because they are the safest lines to use! When you truly understand a racing line, I think you may agree. It opens up the corners and provides way better vision through to the exit.....and NO, I do not use the other side of the road unless overtaking or if it is safe to do so. So I am not talking about utilising the oncoming lanes. I use the racing lines within my lane. believe me when I say, it is the safest way to ride on the road and any road riding coach will agree. As a matter of fact, it was one of the things which we were taught when doing the learners course all those years ago...(And yes..they even had them back then!!! ) As for getting my knee down, I don't think I have done that since I started racing. As a matter of fact, even on the track, I only kiss the pavement now, rather than grinding fuck outta the slider. Sure, when I first rode, I tried to get the knee down on the road, as a lot of young guys n gals try to do. But now, if I am scraping my knee on the road, I am either going too fast for the conditions or I have crashed!!!! As for riding in a lane tighter than a racetrack...........I do believe the skill gained on the track, will allow most to utilise that skinny little piece of tarmac more effectively and safely than most of those who have never raced. Ask anyone who I ride with regularly how often I run wide on a turn!!! The answer is NEVER! ;)

perhaps for a second you could take off your "i'm a racer and you've pissed me off" hat and re read my post. like i said, i even tried to put it back into the context of the thread in regards to the police prescence and not a question of skill.

I'm not lumping racers all into one group either. i'm sure there are skilled jedi masters amongst you, but there are some absolute d@#kheads aswell. (these are the ones to watch out for). And be sure not to take this as a personal insult directed to you . You shouldn't. Now pull your skirt down i can see your knickers, and HTFU!!

to add to Marty's comment you may find that people that run wide do so due to lack of skill and confidence in leaning the bike over. Most of the time a bike with standard tyres can lean a hell of alot further than we give them credit for. It is the inexperienced that freeze and hit the brakes when the corner tightens thus running them wide and possibly into an oncoming lane, where the racers just lean it further to get around safety. Plus the racer using their line will see this corner tighten earlier because of the wider entry race line they have taken.

Just my 2 cents ;)

Yeah ripper thanks mate!! Back riding when work doesn't interfere and am even putting on a few kilos....all be it slowly!!! But without a pancreas that works properly, I'll never be back to fighting weight. No biggie though asthe side benefit is that I will remain race weight pretty much till I kark it!!!! :kuda:

well 1 week passes ..............
same route to warbuton............
same ol breakfast ..........
although the the sheila handing out the breakfast with the juicy fun bags has moved on ;-(
now thats rocked my world

but alas no blue prescence .....not a one
after a delicatble breakfast push on towards home
again not a one ............

this style of policing and or changeing riders attitudes is perplexing to say the least
its all or nothing on a long weekend / summer weekends
and then what ...............
probably if the budget fits a couple of bikes and a camera here and there ,possibly a blitz around the supers
queens l/weekend and then the moto gp if its still viable

look my point is if they have major concerns............ fine .....
but keep a consisent approach and set a standard we can all follow

not training tintop coppers to know how to ride
or flood the roads with a zero approach to motorcycling

just imagine the uproar if this was imposed on cagers
how long do you think this would last for...............

with out trying to be flipant if this stratgery was imposed on another group for instance
i reckon it would be discreminatory....., bullying in fact
but due to the amount of recognistion this generates ie the hoon element yada yada
a current affairs / today night etc etc
its almost idiotic too try and defend without being torn too shreds

the debate will rage no matter what and in the end the , the powers that be will respond with more
crap ways on enforcing the law , be it right or misguided
wire rope barriers, reduced spped limits , targeted areas

thats the way im seeing it at the moment
my license permits me to ride my bike throughout the land at the legal limit
it doesnt infer that i will be pulled over every other time because i actually ride it

again if this operation was targeted at the cagers , look out they would be up in arms

and in relation to riders that have unfortunately been killed
how many have been single vehicle accidents.......
id really like to know ...........
this figure they are talking about .........
does this include being taken out by a 4wd
or somone pulling out right in frony of you
or being rammed at the lights
numbers and stats lie

because the force relys on numbers as it the only form of benchmarking their improvements
so if a crime is not reported ..........no crime has taken place
which miracaiously means crime is declining .....right /wrong

as a member of the driving public i hope they can eliminate the clowns out there i really do i also hope they can get a reasonable and consisent approach to this without this predatory game that is occuring right now

this may not be your view but its mine
