Mick like the Metzlers but cant get em cheap enough to make them worthwile to sell.

Impressed with how you guys were riding on those metzler rennesports last wkd. They seem to be very similiar tread pattern to my old pirelli supercorsas which were an awesome tyre. However the way you are riding them rjbert you will be lucky to see 2000 km's

Without asking Mick how much i'll assume they would be similar to the pirelli supercorsas which are a bit over $100 a set more than the bridgestone bt 012 ss.

Sorry Booze but mate like my title said "I surrender". However i am picking as Many industry Brains as i can atm to try n make sence of this Black Art know as Sports bike tyres.
Firtly Lemme Say i know nothing about the Pirelli's & little about the Metzlers. I believe the Metzler M1s are par with the Bridgie 014. Metzler Rennsports have great grip but wear Quicker then anything.
So that leaves the big 2 , Michelin n Bridgestone. (Both sold for $350 a pair here by Mick all models)
I would either go a pair of 012 SS or a pilot powers Front with a Bridgestone 014 Rear for a little better wear rate.
HTH. I'm no expert but trying to learn as much as i can.

I was at Micks last night getting a front 014se and a rear 014 fitted to the 12R. He said to me what Brett is saying
Anyway he was making a road tyre from a slick which was very interesting to watch and learn about. Me thinks if I go through my rear to quick again I might just get him to make me one as the slick has more meat in the center of it apparently and mick just cuts his own groove pattern.

Despite what Brett says Mick said, I'm getting a new set of tyres in a couple of days for the 9 and will try the 014F/020R combo on this bike. Seemed to work well on the ZZR despite Mick's advice, so I'll see how the 9 goes.
Had to look online for the right specs though (manual's at home) as it's currently got a 190/50 rear on it instead of the original 180/55.
I'm going back to the original specs, but does anyone care to speculate on what the difference to handling is? I'm sure I'll find out soon but I'm curious right now

It should improve the handling for you Tony if you go back to the 180. I'm surprised Phil hasn't talked you into the Metzeler Sportec M1's, he seems to love them, and rightly too.

M8 keep to the original size that the bike specifies. like keep at 180. I think that combo isnt good, both tyres are made differently and have different handling aspects. With the handling you will have each tyre wanting to do different things as you turn into a corner, have not experienced the effect myself and may be nothing in it, but i can imagine as one tyre has steel belts and the other is canvas? it would have to have some un-desired effect.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks guys.
Phil will have trouble talking me into the M1's - they wouldn't last long enough.
When doing >800kms per week I need something that's going to last longer than a month
I'll be trying Metzelers and Michelins later on though.

I used to be able to get around 9,000 out of a rear and 13,000 out of a front using the Metzeler's...it all depends how you are riding.

Rennsports are the go and seem to be wearing fairly well considering the grip level. Only have two problems with em, one is riding in the wet they are crap and the other is fairing damage( see pics)
Will be raising the forks back to std level(8mm drop at moment) and raising rear ride height about an inch to try and fix this prob.
