small is small, bigger than extra small, and lots bigger than extra extra small. but small none the less.
i guess its smaller that meduim, and lots smaller that large. but it is large compared to like a kids small.

Well I guess this is testament to the fact that any thread on this forum - even one for merchandise orders - can go off topic in the blink of an eye

Oh and Mel, a small size bucket hat (just to make sure we're talking about the same thing) should be right for you as a female - it fits me fine (the bucket hat, that is)
