As a female motorcyclist I have had.....
1. "Are you with him?' (whilst the salesman points to a guy on the other side of the showroom)
2. 'Do you pillion?' (That salesman almost didn't ride for a very long time!)
3.'Oh, do you have your own bike?'
4. 'That is a big bike for a little girl!'
5. And last week whilst sitting on the ZX14... 'Oh you look so sexy on that!' (Yes , a salesman DID say that to me!)
So I would have to say that a place where female riders are taken seriously and treated as equals would definately have me coming back!

well hey I didnt say how are you? I never say how are you.... cause its a phoney question I dont ask what I dont want to know.
If I get asked then sure I will answer politely but I never ask that at the begining of a conversation as its overused & sorta meaningless.
hahah i get the same thing...
i always approach with "gday how can i assist you today"? and they always say "great thanks"...haha

if u told wattie " u look sexy on that" he'd just about jump u !!...
so hes not allowed to ask if its too big a bike, hes not allowed to ask if ur with another guy..he cant say the bike is too big, he cant tell u that u look good on it....
ur bloody difficult...

Yes but if I was a guy he would say none of those things..... that is the issue!
It is implying that I don't ride because I am a girl, I can't ride a bigger bike than him because I'm a girl or I must be some guy's seat ornament! The 'sexy' comment was really inappropriate for a sales person. I didn't take him seriously from that moment on. When people make comments like that normally it is a compliment, but that guy was there to sell me a bike not to comment on me personally!

It sucks that they are stupid and sexist, but guys get it too, they just apply the stupid part only. The turnover at the bikeshops near me like team kawa at bowen hills makes me think quality staff might be hard to find.
Things that make me walk out;
Not speaking to anybody, not having them engage with me while I'm walking around
Poor range of used bikes
Lack of range of accessories like gloves and helmets, people want more range than dririder or alpinestarts geezuz.
But then I only go to dealerships if I really have to, I've never walked out thinking, wow what a great experience that was

Well I'm not in management, and perhaps this is the reason.. but if companies paid the staff at the coal face decent money they'd be a lot happier and do a much better job.
When I am happy with working conditions I find myself working 10 hour days without thought and with hardly a break.. when I am unhappy with conditions I find myself looking for reasons to leave my desk for another couple of minutes.

this is what shits me about women.... they take what u say, and turn it into what ever they want!!
if i sit on a bike and the salesman says "geez u look good on that" or sumthin, yea it might be a stereotypical comment to try and get u thinking about buying (as an ex bike salesman) we ALL want to be told we look great...
surely u cant take him saying "u look sexy on that bike" as saying
1. ur not big enuf to ride this bike
2.ur a girl u cant ride it
3.ur not serious about buying this
he is simply implying that YOU LOOK GOOD sitting on the bike... isnt that the EXACT same reason u posted the pic in the "hot ksrc-ians on bikes" thread?? ..im sorry..i shoulda really said "u look like ur racing" ?? ...cos u dont...
so him saying to u in the showroom "u look like your touring thru the GOR" woulda sounded much more professional and made u feel good abt urself??

Poor neka having a bad day at home???
The question was about what would encourage me to return to a bike store, and I answered it. This is not only my perspective- it is a common issue with a lot of female bikers. It is very annoying to go into bike stores and constantly have derrogatory/ sexual comments thrown at you. (Although I did just get a $600 jacket for $360 by smiling nicely.......

)
Waiting for the trouble..........

there is no way a bloke would get a $600 jacket for $360 just by smiling nicely at the salesman !!!!
I tried it last week and got booted out of the shop !!!!

Yes I call it my revenge for all of the times we get treated like dumb-arse girls!
I don't think I have ever paid full price. I had someone go in to try and buy the same jacket and they would only give a $20 discount!

I love it when I walk into a shop and they reckonise me and know what bike I ride etc. The usual question when I walk into my local dealership is - Hey Kel, what bike you on today? Make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside....
Ask questions - don't just assume that I will like what you like... and that I am impressed by how fast you can ride/how big your wheelies are...
DO NOT CRISITICE MY BIKE IN ANYWAY/SHAPE OR FORM AT ALL.... If you do not like it - do not comment...
I admit when it comes to the "mechinical side" of my bike I am a bit uumm.... behind... but I am tryin to learn so PLEASE do not speak to me like I am an idiot if I:
A: Do not know that exact thing I am after but can roughly describe it
B: If I ask you alot of questions about the product you are trying to sell me
