re: Z200...
Unfortunately that is too far away...and I'd be paying $2150 for a $1750 bike...I'd only consider transport for something special, like a Mazda 1500/1800...I actually almost bought one last year 'cept they made it too hard to arrange the RACV inspection. Oops! I'm rambling...but no, the GN looks dandy to me...and she seems to like the look of it...I really shouldn't let her see 'em...
Still no reply though, which is a bit disappointing...

Thats an early model SRV250. The later model SRV's are also know as the Renaissa (sp?) and look a little different. Not much better, but a little different.

re: Z200...
Felix,
My brother has (or had ?) a GN-250 - it was actually the first bike I ever rode on the road 'cause he picked his up a day before I got my ZZR and brought it around.
I liked the gear indicator on the dash - great when you're learning.
Seat was comfortable if a little low, seating position was very neutral but I don't think it would go around corners real well.
The biggest thing I noticed though on the few times I rode it was that it lacked power and took an age to pull-up compared to my ZZR.
His had about 50000 km on it, but the engine had been rebuilt at 35000 and I think he paid $1000 for it from a mate.
Hope this helps

re: Z200...
Cheers Dave, it does all help.
Kind of have a bit more time to look, I just removed a few $K from the bank for other purposes. So I can't rush into anything...
When the weather clears up, I might go and see if I can find a ZZR or GPX to have a test ride of. Might be useful if I am going to make a fully informed decision...that's my excuse and I am sticking to it...

Good Call Felix n dont you be tempted to throw a leg over an 99 - 02 zx6r or a z750 mate
Cause i think the 500 would be most upset.
Cheers Brett

re: Z200...
I have pretty much no doubt that I hadn't of bought a new car last year, I probably would have a Z750 by now....

i have a z200 which i just had rwc'd etc etc which i just gave to the little woman.. she has just gotten her learners so i figgured she had better have something to ride..hence the z200 on the scene.. apart from a new chain and sprocket set and a new back tire there was nothing else for me to do to get a rwc (apart from new motor oil and various lubricants for other areas) the blue slip was 30$ and the green slip was 120$ and to get a new numba plate and pay stamp duty etc was another 150$ .. not bad for a machine that was made in 81 and has never been registered in oz (as far as the rta could determine from its database) ..
powerwise its not too bad.. hits 70-80 km in a reasonble amount of time .. its stopping power sux royal hiney tho.. 12 meters to stop at 50km.. rear brake is a drum, front brake is disk.. corners well.. tho since its a real small commuter its also hard for the usual deadhead drivers to see.. (i had one of those brain dead meatheads try her best to reverse over the top of me 3 days ago while i was zapping round town on the z200)
ya get 100kms for 4.3 litres of gogo juice and a top speed of around 140kms if you really push it - tho to be honest the z200 prefers around the 80kms area if you just wanna cruise (slowly).
the bike cost me (with a new chain , sprocket set , new back tire) including the cost of getting the little woman licenced set me back just over a 1000$ oz..
not a bad deal i thought..

thankx for the welcome..
hehehe.. speaking of slow, have a guess what the little woman wants to do.. in late june i am heading up to bribie island to visit a few people and she wants to tag along on the z200.. i am not even sure if the z200 will even make that sort of trip.. but considering that the little woman is a learner and cant go above 80k's i dont think the z200 will cause too many drama's.. i hope..
i also think that i should be put into a loony bin to let her try but she insists specially after she has read a few stories about people making insane trips on commuters over vast distances..
looks like i better start looking for a new fuel tank for her ride as hers has a bit of rust on the inside, i dont spose that perhaps you might happen to have possibly seen or heard of one in recent times?.. (blatent wanted add here
