My ZRX1200 had Shell SX4 in it for about 2000km, I then used Castrol GPS for about 2000km and finally Mobil Extra 4T for the last 2000km.

Overall the Mobil made the gearchanges the least clunkiest and the bike seems to be smoother in the whole motor operating thing.

The Castrol GPS was better than the Shell, but the Mobil is better again.

I bought a few 4 litre containers of the Extra 4T, so it will be a steady diet of Mobil for the next 10,000kms or so.

I usually try to change my oil out at 2000km intervals because I do a lot of short (cold) running.

Regular oil and filter changes are the best way to take care of an engine - for the change intervals that I use.... semi-synthetic is plenty of protection.

I haven't tried any of them to be honest. I've only been putting motul 5100 or 5500 (Can't remember which) in my zx6r.. It's a semi syn also, not the full

I thank that the whole oil thing is largely overstated - for the racetrack I am sure that fully synthetic brand XYZ Ester based oil is justifiable, but probably not necessary in all cases.
For the road I guess the same holds true.....

The bottom line is use what makes you happy.... but change it regularly. director.gif
