Neka79 wrote:apples to oranges i kno, but the 929 is suprisingly comfy on long trips too... much nicer than say an R1 or a gixxer... so with that nice wide tank, and big plush seat, id expect the zx9r to be good for a couple of long boosts...
900k's in a day was no Biggie Neka. Even with having to use the Hume boreway it was fine. I'm looking forward to the return leg which will include some bends!!

On the luggage front,i rang the melbourne retailer who i bought the Bag from, who gave me the syd distributors number. Kenma agencies it is. Chris answered the call. I introduced myself, explained the situation of being away in Sydney without luggage!

Chris was brilliant. Told me to take the bag into a shop n get them to ring him to authorise a replacement. They didn't have one in stock,so Chris agreed to send one out. I pick it up Wednesday. Great service, no arguments, just assistance. Well did Kenma!

I commenced the return leg of the journey this afternoon.
Departed Rushcutters bay at 5.45 and arrived for dinner in Batemans bay at 8.45! Traffic was a bit much till past the Nasho turn off. Once past there things picked up a tad thankfully.
Apparently Gos n Mick are going to grace me with there presence about 9am tomorrow morning and show me a few nice roads.

I posted a Box of clothes back today, so am 12kgs lighter. I should have posted more,as all it really did was allow me to zip down the tank bag one level, and a bit lighter on the tail bag mounted on the rack. It still steers like a shopping trolley, but at least now i can actually move around a little.

The chain on the 9 is a little grumpy. I think it has a seized link!!! It's got a rotational clunk till the chain warms. But even at low constant speeds it's now starting to do it. So fingers crossed it doesn't shit itself before Newport. Naturally i am giving the right grip a gentle squeeze rather than a big fistfull to try and extend it's life. I reckon 450klms in the pissing rain at @$1.50 might have helped it along a bit!!

I bathed it in lube when i stopped, so fingers crossed. The front tyre is also looking like a bit of a slick, edge to edge. But it will make it home.

Never a truer word said in jest Neka!!! (I'll explain one day when I see ya again)

For Batemans Bay to Bombale, check out the Donut loop thread!!

2pm I departed Bombala, with a mission to make it back to Melbourne..........ahead of schedule!!!

The road from Bombala was an easier task to handle fully laden, with it mostly being very expensive sweepers and flowing nicely without the neccesity to utilise the brakes in too aggressive a manor. The 90 klms from Bombala to Cann River was dispensed with rapidly, knowing full well, that I would have to take it handy once I hit the Princess copway!
I was still able to wind it up in parts. And wind it up I did. thankfully a few polite tin toppers signalled when the filth were about. I made Lakes Entrance By 3.40 for fuel and another debug of the visor ( a task undertaken at every Fuel stop, and twice while on the Move  )

After Fuel and a quick call to the Bride to let her know I was still unarrested and I was orf again!

I took it easy from Lakes Entrance to Bairnsdale, as there are no B roads which run along the side which can be utilised. From Bairnsdale I took my own route. (Not for print) This allows some reasonable time to be made up. The 9 ran onto reserve after only 170klms! There are some mad sweepers along these roads too. As well as several see for miles straights which enable transit times to be halved at the least!!! I popped back out onto the Fwy at Moe and used the tin toppers as radar fodder. Once onto the South Eastern dragway I wicked it up a tad and made way through the traffic arriving at Che' Strika at 6.30pm. I think about 900 klms from Bombala to Home. You do the math!

I could quite honestly hop on and do it all again tomorrow!! Any one up for a ride? I reckon my front tyre and my chain might have one run left in them!!!
