My missus has said no matter what, we can work something out. If i take the suspension she has offered to organise to work lateshifts those days (for 3 months, FARK thats sweet of her) and give me a lift to work (or in the case of nightshifts, from work, leaving me to get to/from work in the afternoons.

I did the maths and it appears that i've got reasonable connections via train and bus to work, all i need to do now is if it goes down this avenue, is to talk to my boss about arrival times. I'll get here about 6:50am if i have to, but that means leaving a half hour earlier than if i was to get here at 7am exactly, go figure.

Mike, just take the 12 months option, you can be a good boy ? how long has it been since the last time you were busted?

Once some years ago, the Courts took my licence away, not for any defined period, the suspension was ' At The Discretion Of The Courts...'

Court attendant felt sorry for me that day, reckoned I would be lucky to *ever* see it again......2 years almost to the day later, I was back terrorising the King's highways and byways.....

12 weeks is a breeze.......It'll gone in no time...

Something occured to me tonight, remember me mentioning my missus did her double demerit speeding offence and i took the fall for it as i thought i'd be a good boy? well that combined with the two points i'd prev taken for a minor thing last year, plus the 4 points for this makes twelve, so i've hit my quota ofpoints within a YEAR and a half.

Both of the things that've happened to me mean i'll be walking for 3 months if i don't go about them the right way. Anyway i'll hopefully be getting in contact with Mark at lawstop to see what options are available, i may or may not need his help with this.

Having just done a little over 3 months of walking , can say that it does fly past . But it also has some upsides .
Its really suprising how often you can get a lift .
Public transport can be OK , read the paper etc
Never worry about how many drinks you just had , was that 3 or 4 beers ? ah stuff it I'll have another
Being forced to walk sometimes is quite relaxing , and if the weather is good , it can be great .

With Vic Roads and 12 point options , you would be mad to try the 12month double jepardy coz if you just bit the bullet and hand ya ticket in , you have all the points reinstated . Back to no points is a good deal .

Don't know about your system and an imediate suspension tho

I'd be going the 3 month option for what it's worth...

go the three month period, you'll hate yourself at first, but you'll hate yourself even more when you get caught not indicating or doing 3km over the speed limit and lose it for longer with the other option.

btw, you said they court might do you for 45 and over?? nup.. if the cop booked you for under 45, they have nothing but hearsay to say that you were doing more, because if you were doing more, the cop woulda booked you for it!!

i know of a bloke who lost his license license for a few months also.

to get around he bought those motorised scooter things.

sounds kind of gay i know.
but if your commute isnt that long its an option. might also be handy for getting to/from the train.

he ended up enjoying it. luckily for him though he didnt live too far from work. from the sounds of it your commute is a decent distance though.

I heard a bit about Stenberg from a bloke who rides with him and he has always either got them off or reduced their penalties. so hopefully he can help you out.

Well cheers for the feedback guys. if it was a fine only id go stuff it and just pay, however i've had a few people mention to me they'd take the 3 months.

But if Mark is as good as some of the feedback i've gotten from around the traps about him, i'd happily line his pockets a bit more and take a punt on reducing my penalty. If Mark does his thing then the cost of retaining his services the once is going to be a shitload cheaper than the insurance premium boosting over the next 5 years or so.

Also to add to that i'd be less fussed about a suspension if i worked in the city in a 9-5 job. But i work in lane cove and work shiftwork, and public transport is average at best in that area. Getting to/from work is my biggest incentive for keeping my license b.t.w. But if i loose my ticket, well i loose my ticket and there's jack i can do about it except make the best of the situation.

sounds like my housemate

just finishing 3 year DUI loss of licence

prob is when he does get it back he will have to stop the drinking and is going to play taxi driver for all his mates that have driven him around for so long

another thing since his is more than 18 months he also has to do L's computer test and P's driving test to get full licence back

other prob he has is he is still paying his fines off and cant get licence back till he has paid 75% of em

$1500 for the DUI
$7500 of no train tickets

Dude it's 3months.......try 2 years!(my penalty at the moment).

It wasn't the RTA fundraiser it was the police ball.......
