I thought those pipes looked crap when I first saw it. And they still do.....
At least, in the photos where it looks like one solid round muffler!
In the shots where you can see it's got a crease down the middle, I kinda think they look pretty cool. They're growing on me at any rate.

Before I hop on the bandwagon, I need to serenade the bike with some Depeche Mode (or the Rammstein cover, if you prefer),
"Let me see you stripped..."
There could quite easily be the same old steel-tube spine frame hiding under there. If they've given it a proper frame, then it'll slay all comers on the spec sheet as well as the road.
Other than that, with designs like this coming out, it'll be some mad crack you'd have to be on to disagree with Kawasaki being *the* trailblazers when it comes to styling.
Those triangular reverse-cone megas are... well, mega.
The Z1000 also features a version of the ZX10 engine.

*squints hard*
Looking at the angle of the cylinder head, the position of the oil filter, and the relative positions of the clutch and ignition rotor covers, I'm not so sure I buy that. That still looks like the bored-out ZX9 motor... and a good thing that is, too. With the FZ1 having gone all wheezy down low with the short-stroke motor from the current R1, the Z1000 should wreck it right through the rev range.

PS: Raptors and Rockets are claiming a world-first for those pics.
Pig's arse.
http://www.moto-station.com had them up last night. I checked R&R at the same time... nuttin yet.

The orange one looks like a pregnant Superduke to me.
Replace the pipes with something else and I'd have one though..

Rumour doing the rounds and being reported by some sites is that it is aluminum and similar to the monocoque design Kawasaki has used on other recent models like the ZX-14.

I think the pipes don't look too bad in the rear shots - and let's face it, that's all anyone's ever gonna see

I'm not sure they're good enough to keep though.

Im gonna go out on a limb here.
YUK!
Nah, hate the pipes, hate the windscreen, as it shows the "messyness" of the handle bars - brake fluid pot, lights box etc.
Plus Im not a fan of nakeds period. Engines are ugly and to keep it looking bling you would need to wash, wax and polish after every 2 minute of riding!

Sounds like just a Rumour to me Aardvark, most of my digging around suggests the only part of the frame touched, was the subframe!!!
The Japanese manufacturer claims that the new bike features a torquier motor, plus a new sub frame, which they reckon will reduce engine vibration. The four pipe exhaust styling detail is one retro touch that many Z1000 buyers will be glad to see retained on the new bike.

I think on the raptors and rockets site they mention an aluminium type frame and a detuned or retuned zx10 donk.

it would be sacriledge to change the pipes..thats what its known for..retro pipes... they look like shit, but its up to the owner to change em...

is it a load of shit about being a 10 engine that isnt detuned? .. Thats the main selling point for me. Considering a 600 supersport bike can beat a current model z1000..
I sure hope its true! coz then i will find myself a owner of one in the near future

Yeah, it doesn't matter how the pipes look, aftermarket pipes are
always better, it doesn't matter wat brand or model, it's
always better than the stock exhaust. I have no idea who told them that.
