Mate, thats the best position for the pigs to be in.. if ya gonna do a runner.
By the time they've done their U-turn youre already into the sunset &
2ndly, if their coming towards you, they wouldnt have the chance to get
ya reg. Better the pigs are coming towards ya then seeing the lights
flashing with em on ya tail pipe

Except in NSW where all HWP Cars now have video cameras front and rear. Get you on Video and send the fine in the mail maybe?

There are a couple of systems that work by GPS and will inform you when you are getting close to a popular radar point (handhelds, moveable cameras and fixed cameras) but that is the only legal one in Australia (to my knowledge). There is a system from the UK that momentarily blocks the signal from the radar and apparently laser - only momentarily - it works like a garage door opener but has a much stronger signal - it doesn't detect a radar but I'm not sure how legal they are...

speaking of cameras... this is how shitty things are in tassie, i went to work along my usually highway route.... 1 cop sitting at the top of this mega bad ass hill with a speed gun, then 2x 100m apart, 1 on a bike and 1 in a car both facing different direct. i think GOD had all sent them on a mission that day!
bloody po-po!!!

i think its an urban myth....

certainly is in NSW and SA...ive tried it...twice in each state...
*sigh* This brings back memories...

My mate has A cobra XRS-9930 Radar detector in his car. He bought it off the net, we use it all the time when we head down on weekend snowboarding trips from Sydney. Well we have passed hundreds of cop cars, and we pick up thier radar, both the ones on the highway and the ones in the bushes. We pick them up a good 1 minute or so before we reach thier "radar horizizon". Also it senses "POP" radars which is apparently the undetectable radar. It has a voice alert that says "warning pop/K/Kx radar approaching" then an beeping noise as you close in on it. Not once have we been pulled over because we have it on, this also includes trips up to coffs harbour every few weekends, so the cops sensing equipment either sux, or they are lazy.
I have borrowed it for sydney to melb trips on the bike, i have a simple mount made up and i plug headphones in and wire it to the bikes own power (my mate did it all for me, i got no idea how to do it

) .. Never failed for me.
I would like to add, i dont condone speeding, its merely that when i overtake someone i want to shoot past them so i dont get cleaned up by them. And i would hate to get booked for simply trying to keep myself safe, cops wouldnt understand
edit: it has an audio only mode so it dont stick out like dogs balls as you ride past the "hidden" copper that you knew was there
