tell you what, i still have my old workshop manual for a VFR/RVF400 at home. if you buy one of these... its yours, no charge. i have no use for it anymore(sob) but would be happy to be a pit bitch if you come up to sydney (nods head vigorously)!!!
as for a bike.... it depends on the damage to be honest. motor damage? if you are good mechanically, that is not a bad option, you may even find someone who is getting rid of 2 bikes. alot of guys have a "spare" bike coz they are so cheap to buy, its a great parts bin... you can ride it!!
be wary of frame/chassis damage. they have bolton subframes, so thats easy, but anything else would be yourt own judgement of your ability.
but i see no reason for you not to do it. gives you a chance to learn about the bike.

heres an example of a bike for sale @ 400racing.com
The bike is VFR 400 with RVF engine, HRC carb kit, Tyre warmers, Brand new wets, Stands, Gold Valve suspension and Some fairing panels. I'm looking at $5000 for the lot
that gets you basically on the track (i'd give it a service and get hold of some crash spares/farings first) for 5k... not too bad i'd say

thanks heaps for that.
i think the honda would be the way i'd head for a 400, there just seems to be more of em around.
looks like that could be the way to go.

yep honda is good for it.
RVF has v4 config(CBR is an in-line 4),upside down forks, slightly better motor, 17" rims (dont let someone tell you otherwise... VFR come with 18" rims standard)
mine was RVF, no complaints... 95% of parts are interchangeable between the 2 models, so when you buy spares.. ask for VFR, not RVF parts.

They may be "Younger" Vince, but I doubt they are Fitter
I doubt if you could fit on one Vince. Although I have seen some pretty big guys ride them, they don't often go that fast on them. And they require some errrr interesting seat extension solutions.
For a track hack or club bike, I still think a 600 is a really simple cheap reliable option. If you are not doing anything silly to them you will get for or five seasons out of a motor before you have to freshen it up. Even being anal a top end refresh each year and a top and bottom every second year is still cheaper than running a GP bike.
