Tough call Glenn... Pay $48 for fitting in Sydney or stand around the back streets of Goodna for 3 hours...

Skip goodna! Go to that tire mob in the middle of Moss st, between the two corners. You'll get a price comparable with Micks, the tires will have warranties and you won't have the wait. I grabbed 4L of silkolene there for $45 yesterday, I was telling him how mick does the Motol for $40 and he dropped the price down for me. Those little independents will always come a bit lower.

I'm sure when the GST was brought in here that there was some stipulation about quoted/displayed prices having to have GST already included. Dunno where you would confirm that info or what you could do to kick their ass over it, but I'd have been arguing that point - if I had have known.

Yes you did get ripped
If I turned up and they then added gst and told me that its $48 to fit the tyre they would have been taking the tyre back off
no way would I pay that

That'd be the Melbourne shop.
They still have two shops in Sydney, one in the City, the other in Parramatta, and a shop here in Canberra.
Any shop in the centre of a large city reasons that its clientele is going to have more money than time in which to seek out a better deal, so they always charge full retail.
A few years ago, Scot Walker Motorcycles on Sydney's Northern Beaches tried to charge me $25 to fit a tyre to a loose wheel. They ended up taking what was still their tyre off my rim and I ended up walking out the door.
