Geez that's harsh. Up here at least they allow a buffer although you won't find any official confirmation. Surely you could argue the 10% allowable variance in the standard although you'd have to spend the dough to take it to court.Smitty wrote:do NOT try that in VictoriaGlen wrote:The Aus standard for speed measuring devices apparently allows for a 10% discrepancy either way, which I think is why you get some buffer on radar detected speeding offences also.
its one of our big beefs with 'greed' cameras
here....
do more than 62 in a sixty zone....and you contribute $125
to the Victorian Treasury
and when you approach 100..don't even think about a 10% variance
103 will have you contributing

It's OK Mike. You've got speed credits now. Next time you get done just explain how many km/h's you've accumulated under the limit and how you were just using them up. I'm sure they'll let you offmike-s wrote:also explains why i've gone past many many cameras dead "on" or just over the limit and never ever been gotten, i was still UNDER the limit *grin*.

been tried in court..and they lost
the 3% tolerance is there to allow for a 'slight' inaccuracy with the
camera software..that is the camera cannot be spot on
so they allow this 3% MAX upper limit
what pisses me (and thousands of mexicans) off is that the car/bike
I have only needs a speedo to within 10%+/- of the actual ..to be legal
under the ADRs governing cars
The Vic govt sez stiff....our allowance is no more than 3%
so go slow

GOTTA LUV the 12R!!
