So hes offered to hang on to it if I put a deposit down and purchas it latter for $6800 no reg. Its only got 2 minor scratches and has only done 30,000kms.he also thinks it all should be ok for a road worthy.
Does this sound Ok??

I hope this guy isn't like your best mate of all time, or even really an acquantance!!!! He's having a real crack at you GlennB!! A 1999 6 with 30,000klms on it WITH damage and no rego is worth no more than 4-4.5k.....

oh sorry didnt see that it had damage...

wouldnt pay much at all, considering a clean one with rego and RWC would be worth about 6k tops... you can get a 98-99 9R for 7-8k!

 yes its a 99 ZX6R. This is what happens when you work nights 2 days of the week then days for the rest. e tired all the time:(
I have looked around and the going price seems to be 7-7.5K with 50,000k on the clock.

no no no....your confusing the asking price with the selling price. What people ask for, and get are usually vastly different. And for all those that are going to boast about how they did get what they asked for, either you asked too little, or you tripped over the dumbest purchaser available at the time or your lying to save face. How do you know you ask. Well I used to and still occassionally do buy them and sell them for a living.

I really was being generous to your mate when i stated it was worth 4.5-5k. It needs.......

Rego- $550
repair- A few scratches are only probably $2000 worth, providing it's only small. And I bet it needs a few things....Tyres, chain, sprockets, cables, pads, discs a service???????????

And it's a 99 model.....that is now 7 years old.

U can buy a second hand 05 with loads of reg no damage and new tyres for @10k

Once you made yours rinky dink it is going to owe you nearly 8k........

The scratches are very minor.
I no the bike has been looked after and hasnt been thrashed.
So maybe 6k with no reg would be reasonable??

heh just get it and ya will learn a lot, if it is a bargain you will soon know it, if it isn't well ya learned a few things. $1k lesson isn't so bad. 8)

Better than stealerships knocking 4k of a bike from new as soon as ya ride it away :?

$550 for rego  thats more than my 4wd. What state is that in?
Ok Thinking about it a bit more and maybe 6k with full 12 rego. Im willing to pay that little bit more that I no that it has been looked after and that it wont need a new cluch or gear box(I hope). Mates a pretty conservative rider.
Anybody think this is not to much to pay :?:
Cheers

I dont think it is, I just had a look through the tradingpost and bikepoint and cant see any 99 with 30000km for less than 8k. So dont know were the fella`s are getting 4k from..
But you would be looking at 7k by the time you get it on the road without roady and rego. And you wont be mates anymore if it does go like a piece of shit.
Cheers Sean

don't get too excited about this particular bike.

you can get any 99 zx6 for that price.
I paid 6500 for mine with 22000k's on the clock, a fair bit of rego and a full titanium muzzy system (yeh I know the system doesn't make any difference to the price but it's why I wanted this particular bike).

do you need a RWC to rego the bike? not sure how it works. but if it needs new brake discs which wouldn't surprise me at 30000k's there goes another $800
