push the fugger out into the middle of the yard, put ya helmet & leathers on & strike up the oxy set......this method is guaranteed to get the bastard open quick as a flash.....or is that get the bastard open with a big flash :? ......maybe stick with the hammer & screwdriver

I have the perfect can opener, Homer Simpson style qleft6.gif , One shot will remove the lock, might need to patch up the big hole in the bottom of the tank though.

This model of the ZX6R doesnt have electronic protection...

As for removing the whole fuel cap assembly, that doesnt work if the cap is still locked, because you cant removie it while it is closed (happened to my on my honda)...

Drilling it out may cause problems because you wouldnt be able to close it any more...

On the good side, if you drill it out, you can remove the whole thing and replace it with one from the wreckers (with a key too)...

why not just knock (not drill) a small hole in the top of the tank so you can put petrol in it till you work out what you wanna do with the lock... put a cork in it to seal it

its done!!!

3mm drill bit
Black and decker cordless drill
Flat head screwdriver with square shaft
6 inch shifter

step one: drill three holes along the key slot

step two: insert screwdriver

step three: apply shifter to shaft of screwdriver

step four: turn clockwise while maintaining downward pressure on the screwdriver.

step five: listen for crunch of lock giving up

step six: lift up cap and take assembly off tank

step seven: bang metal filings out on ground.

step eight: refit cap

step nine: twist lock open and closed a dozen times to ensure its not binding up.
