Seriously, for that sort of money, if I was looking for a 250...I'd buy a new Hyosung with 2 years warranty...and have lots of change for gear...

I agree, looks like buying a 250 down south is an investment of huge proportions. FFS thats a decent (aged) ZX6R or half decent 9R around here, get the Hyosung the Hyundai of bikes, ya gunna loose money anyway when ya sell it might as well have something new. Personally for a 250cc bike I would be bying a dirt squirter, much more fun, cheaper, and learn a lot more from riding that. (Just my opinion)
Wait untill ya unrestricted then spend the 8k on something worthwhile.

your not gonna lose anything like what you would on a used jap 250. you would be pretty unlucky to lose more than $500 over 12months assuming no stacks... but the hyosung just like NSR150's are going to lose over 2k in those 12 months

Bloody heck! My old 2004 ZZR250 was less than that, with 1,700kms on it.

redbook is a little inaccurate for older vehicles...


plenty of immaculate cbr250rr's sell for around 5k, almost regardless of what year they are. tho ive heard of clean ones with JDM paint going for sub 4k

I guess you have to allow for the fact that the $8000 also included ORC, presumably 12 months rego and their $700 of gear and other stuff, but even if you take that out of the equation it'd still be $6-7K for a pretty old bike. I felt sorry for this guy. He thought he'd got a great deal, because one of his relo's worked there or something, and I didn't have the heart to tell him how cheap I've seen some CBRs go for on the private market. He was only 18, so I guess they saw him coming...

Still, for his $8K he at least got a bike that worked, that he's happy with. Sounds like plenty of others didn't even get that!

Echo the rest of the mob here and suggest you avoid them like the plague. Like others i'm f($&ed if I know how they are still in business. When I was looking for a 250 I went to Sumoto, sat on about 5-6 bikes and got absolutely no service at all.

My thughts are that if they can't provide service when I want to BUY a bike, wtf is it going to be like getting a bike serviced etc?

I took my money elsewhere, there were others happy to have it.

I am sure you are aware you would loose that on any new bike as soon as you sign for it. I lost 6k in 4 months from one new bike being traded on another at the same dealer but I HAD to have it and thats stealerships for ya
Lesson I learnt was get the bike you want first up if you are buying new or avoid dealers when selling of course..
