dunno about that. we had tons of rides over winter, smaller turnout than what we get in summer. funnily enough the poms were always there though.

we didn't get rained on much at all.

Melbourne has the spurs and phillip island ... what more could you want?

Melbourne 'world's top city'

Often derided as Bleak City by Sydneysiders, Melbourne topped a survey of 130 cities, narrowly beating out the other four Australian capitals surveyed - because its weather rated the best.

Funny, I'll use the Chrsitine Keeler response and say "Well of course The Age would say that, wouldn't it". Wasn't in the Sydney Morning Herald, I assure you!

My vote is for NSW. We've got the highest violent crime rate, the highest cost of living, the highest level of taxation, more tolls, more legal restrictions and less water than anywhere else.
(hang on..... :? )

Brisbane has my vote, quiet rural charm, big city amenities, great country roads. Within a stones throw of the Goldcoast and the Sunshine coast and all that wonderful hinterland.

Yes you can ride all year, winter is the best tho, no rain....ever and it only gets up to about 23-25 degrees on any winter day. But that said riding in summer is no real drama, just stop your bike in the shade.

Sure you'd suffer from the heat in the first year but correct me if I'm wrong folks but it gets up to 40 degrees over summer in Sydney and Melbourne as well. Difference is Brizzy doesn't get cold ever.

We don't have PI tho, only the paper clip

Come to Brizzy and you'll see why southerners come to Queensland for their holidays. 8)

I don't mind snow, so long as it's not yellow-coloured.

Well plenty of votes for Melbourne, not many for Sydney ( ), and a few for Brisbane........

as Newcastle boy who moved to Canberra, missus is from Melbourne, and best mates live in Queensland, I reckon I can offer an *objective* viewpoint

Melbourne is close to Phillip Island. This is good. Melbourne has the highest number of motorcycle shops per capita in Oz. This is also good.
Melbourne also has a huge % of KSRC members, you will never be short of riding mates. They do good coffees in Melbourne to. But ride at 3kmh over the limit, and you will lose much money and points.......they are Nazi's down there about speeding, its a joke.

Sydney is a dump (sorry Sydney members, but its true) - polluted, overpriced, overtaxed, tollways popping up everywhere, it is a grubby shithole not unlike Leeds !!! Avoid Sydney at all costs. I am fully serious. It has the most expensive 2-bedroom toilets in the country. But the beaches are good, they do have better beaches than Melbourne.

Brisbane is hot hot hot, and getting hotter. Plenty good roads in the nearby hinterlands, you've got the Gold Coast just down the road, plenty of watersports. If you are not used to *hot* and *humid* weather, you will be rattled.....

Now Canberra is nice, with some of the best roads in the country at our doorstep, it has NIL pollution ( except for the porn and the fireworks), great facilities, reasonable coffee, the beach is *close* enough, and in winter, if you are lucky, it will snow !! Just like home mate !!

Adelaide is, well, Adelaide *yawn*, not much happens down there.

Perth.......is full of South Africans.........and unruly outlaw gangs  , but the house prices are pretty cheap !!

Darwin is far too close to Indonesia

Good luck with your move.
