why not register with vic inventors business section (forgot the actual name of the place), got the actual name of the place at home, they sign legal docunments, of privacy etc. and can help you out with what ever your idea is. I am just in the process of getting some info on how they work too, so if you want if i find out any more about how they work and the process they go through, i can pass it on. But me personally if you think you have a good idea don't going telling anyone, until you get some sort of privacy disclaimer over the item/idea.
