although I dont wear glasses, my wife does.

We got her a set of oakley Rx (prescription lens wire frames) frames from one of the Oakley sales for a whopping $120, when we went to get the lenses fitted, the dude was curious and asked how much we got them for, and he showed us the exact same frames in his shop for $425. (bargain for us!)

We then got the 'Transition' lenses and they rock, my wife is super happy with them, and they are a pearler! so if you don't want contacts i'd recommend them.

They take a while to 'transition' but are pretty darn good!

its not natural to stick your finger into your eye, so at first it can take as long as ten min per eye. But you'll get used to it.

If ya get the disposable contacts they'll only set ya back $45-60 per set of 6 lenses, if ya paranoid about loosing a lense just keep a couple in your jacket in their packaging.

I've never lost a lense while riding, i have had one shift off the pupil mid corner during track day, riding along furiously trying to blink it back in.

oh and don't rub your eyes, its no fun putting grubby fingers in your eyes trying to push you contact back into place.

I wear glasses. duh! I have tried dark lenses, clear lenses, photochromic lenses, Combinations of dark and clear visors. You are stuffed in the rain or high humidity (Fog up). COntacts seem to be the way to go if your eyes can take them.

I only do track work now and use clear visor, clear `lenses.

I came to this conclusion after much trial and error.

Its an individual decision I think. Try all you can and then select whats best for you.

Contacts here, can't stand wearing glasses

I too have to wear glasses to ride and drive. I have a brand called convertables which has the magnetic sunnies attachment. I highly recommend them. And i do have contacts as well which i must admit are good but find my eyes dry out at times. Mainly i wear my glasses and i have a tinted visor which is perfect..

Wow, lot of forum members wear glasses or contacts. mmm what does that say. Anyway I wear glasses too. got oakley rx as well with a tinted visor. it's not easy getting them in the shoei's cheek padding and sometimes it downright hurts, but once in I have not got any issues with the them. A mate just had his eyes lasered and reckons it the best thing he has ever done (mind you he's never ridden a kawaka)

Good thread here. I wear glasses all the time. Titanium flex-frame & plastic lenses so I reckon it would be pretty safe (?).

No problems at all, except at very high speed it vibrates and thus the vision is more "blurry" than it should be.

Would be interested to try contacts. How convenient is it? Can you just use a disposable lens for let's say a month without taking them on and off ?

I have the permanant contacts which have to be taken in and out and so on. I am yet to try those diposable type, but i do suggest you go to your optomitrist and get some proffesional advice. I know i had a few issues at the start, but now i have no probs..

Some contacts are supposed to be able to be worn overnight...but I always end up with red, sore eyes if I fall asleep with them in. Generally I get around 12 - 14 hours a day with out too much problem. My dreams seem to always have perfect focus... Contacts range from $20/pair to $180/pair, depending on how sophistamacated they are. I buy relatively cheap ones, and look after them...my eyes don't seem to gunk up too much, but everyone is different.

My eyesight is pretty bad...legally blind according to ADF...no Air Force career for me I get a lot of tunnel vision wearing glasses. Contacts are great, especially for riding/driving. I don't go anywhere without a spare pair and my glasses. Have a small bag that it all fits in and I am good to go. It is only inconvenient compared to having perfect, natural vision. Plenty of other things I don't have wrong with me, so I'll put up with the few extra things I have to do every day.

Wiley X's are excellent, I find them very comfortable and the lenses are shatterproof apparently, lucky I havent tested it yet. At $130 I am very impressed, unsure if you can get lenses made up for them, but the frames are excellent

Very good input guys, for those that have had the laser treatment what is the procedure?, as I mentioned before that I have tried contacts, the basic problem is they are for blind people it makes it hard to see them in the first place, put them in your eye inside out is not a good thing ouch.
I have to take reading glasses with me as well with contact lens as my glasses are trifocal as contacts are not made trifocal.

I've worn glasses since I was 3.
Thinnest frames possible for my normal glasses go inside the helmet without any trouble.
By Bolle prescription wrap-arounds are excellent, but they have thicker frames and are a little hard to get on.
Both frames are a little bent out of shape from the helmet, but nothing major.

I got a pair of Oakley X Metals and do you think I can get em in the helmet.....not a chance.
So 'Fully Shick' tinted visor for me and sunnys in the pocket for when the helmet comes off

I think I'll try to pick up a bling-bling blue iridium visor next time I'm in a bike shop (need to try to find some boots anyway).

Too many people in real life are telling me contacts are unconfortable if you're not used to them, so I'll have to give them a go before settling on them!

Heck, some friends of mine are overseas at the moment, I should pick up some contacts just to give 'em a shock when they get back .
