driving is a luctury.
but for us, being so spread out, it's a necessity.

if fuel rises enough, it will pull inflation up with, and with that, rise the interest rates.

as if it wasn't hard enough trying to buy a place on a single income already. lets hope we don't see th 18 - 20% of the nineties.

rant over.
Interesting stat for the economic heads.

Household interest burden as a % of income is now higher than it was in 1989 when rates were 17.5%. This means we all have (on average) about 2.5 times higher debt levels in real terms.

What does that mean you ask? The economy is now so sensitive to relatively minor hikes in interest rates that a return to 1989 rates would be disastrous and would leave us all "fucked and a long way from home". I don't think your likely to see those sort of rates for a long time yet, if ever.

98 Premium fuel is about that price around sydney atm too.
With regular at around 1.25, 98 is around 10 or so cents more.

talkin' 2 my dad (Floridian) on the weekend, and he was complainin' 'bout $2.50/Gal (~3.98L), so he's payin' 'bout 62-ish cents a liter.... asshole. and he drives a big fuckin GMC truck that gets about MAYBE 20 miles a gallon, uh... you can do the math, but it sucks! gas guzzler!
anyway, yeah, we are suckin over here.....

its not so bad filling up a bike. try putting 65L of 98pulp in a car that does 16-18L/100km. that's the cost of power i suppose.

I paid 138.9 for Vortex 98 last night to fill up the cage. Refuse to fill it with any of the lesser fuels so that's the price I pay. Fortunately I get a week out of a tank and it only cost me $40 to fill so its still cheaper than public transport.

I picked up the pump the other day at Byron Bay and noticed 128.9c... sms'd the GF to complain about it... later that arvo she sms'd back 134.9c at the same servo!!!

I remember when I moved to QLD in the late 90's (haha makes me sound old) fuel was well under the 60c mark!

The other day I was riding along and noticed that on side of the road was a BP selling standard fuel for $1.25 and on the other side of the road was a 7/11 selling standard for $1.12...

I'll say !!! its always been more than city prices, but the LPG !! thats like double ! hells bells, imagine how bad it will be in 10 years time, once those 25 million Chinese L-platers are all driving around in GMH V8's !!! OPEC thinks there is a demand problem now.......

Another thing - why all of a sudden is Premium about 10c litre more - for the last few years, its only cost a few ( maybe 5) cents a litre more. Team Crim - I must have picked the worse week in the history of Retail Petroleum !!

If I let the Prado run to empty, it takes 169 litres to fill both tanks. Current premium cost would be almost $230.00 to fill the tank of the Cook's taxi !!! I am now going off for a Bex and a nice long lie down....

cheers

I feel your pain, my daily drive at the moment is a turbo-diesel Pajero... I put $50 in the other day and that was barely over half the factory tank...
