2nd day I had my 87 CBR I went off for work, and thought those shops don't give you much fuel I'd better go fil up. In a Valley between two fair sized hills it suffered fuel starvation, so I went to turn to reserve, only to find it was on reserve. There was a fuel station over both of the hills. I pushed the bike up the hill (should have walked and purchased a jerry can  ) got to the servo and found that the key for the fuel cap was different from the ignition and I only had 1 key with me. A nice chap at the servo gave me a lift home to get my other key, dropped my back at my bike and wouldn't even take any money for it.

Moral of the story, check everything and keep an eye on it.

i've done that in my old car, was on my way to the servo, i KNEW i might have problems with this particular hill, so i built up as much speed as i could and tried to go as far up the other side as possible. \

Given it had efi and not carbs, when the fuel cut out, it cut out very quickly. I was able to pull over & stop in a safe area to do so luckily enough. Had to wait for the NRMA as it was about 2km to the servo and i wasnt going to leave the car in such a precarious spot!
