Had the option of taking working for my father and taking over my fathers' business 20 years ago. I worked there with my siblings during the school holidays and on Saturdays to get coin. My brother worked there for a few years. My dad lived more at work than at home, we called home his second home. The business made good money, we had jags, bmws a big house on the north shore all the trappings. But I saw the constant chasing people for money, getting ripped on the odd occasion it was work and work and work at home. I never felt I missed out as I was working with him from about 10 but I thought there has to be more to it. So I now work for multinational, made it up the food chain work just as hard but don't have the worry about being paid

As for business ideas I had a few in my late teens (20+ years ago)-
First one was to set up a boat hire/ share business where boat owners could put there boats into a pool to be hire out, sort of like time share.

My other idea came when I was first driving through the harbour tunnel and heard the tunnel announcers voice come over the radio. I thought wouldn't be good if emergency services could distribute a radio signal that could interrupt the radio on cars within a 200m radius and advise that they were traveling on George st headed South, please keep to the left. The extended idea now would be to hook it up to a map service that it would be automated and advise the emergency vehicle the fastest route. looked at it but wasn't smart enough to make it work

Maybe become friends with Ian McDonald. All of his associates seem to become very wealthy almost overnight.
Although you may end up playing muumies and daddies with Bubba.
