Am looking at some bikes when I'm in brissy/gold coast on the 18th. Team moto at springwood has a 750 that I'm gunna look at along with a few other bikes also.

You can buy my 09 VFR then I can update to Ninja 1000. The VFR is a great bike, handle well and a very comfortable tourer, great pillioner bike, which is why I bought it in the first place, but have to get another Kawasaki as a roadie. The green is in my blood.

I am no bike expert, but if your mostly doing highway riding(to work & back). Wouldn't it be wise to just stick with a smaller cc bike a 250r. This might be hard to say, but I was much like you. I wanted a bigger bike. I wanted to get a 1400cc at a point as my next upgrade -.-". Then went down to a 1000cc down to a 750 down to a 600... Not saying that you shouldn't upgrade. That's up to you. But seeing as you said your mostly doing highway riding. Thought I'd mention some stuff.

Your current bike is much more fuel efficient. Getting a higher powered bike is not going to make much of a difference seeing as there's gona be traffic / road rules. (unless you plan on doing track.) Not to mention the shit load of undercover's that I've been seeing lately catching people out.
Only difference is the Ego boost and maybe the chicks lol.
You might not have the fastest bike, but you can have a loud one giving the impression that it is just as fast, but most motorcyclist will know, girls won't lol....

I find the 250 too small. Not that I've been on it much lately with all the bloody rain we've had.

Also a bigger bike would be nicer then the 250 on my ride. I've got an hour or so each way ride, and it's not jam packed stop start traffic. I have weighed it up as well as got many opinions based on where I ride, and have then come to my reasoning. I don't wanna go 1000cc. I was looking 600ish, 750 max in the case of the gsxr, or the vfr.

I reckon if I were a young lad now Id go a GSXR 750 if I wanted something sporty or If I wanted a naked a Z750 perhaps. Go ride as many as you can and see what floats your boat. Is a very personal thing.

sell the ninja, get a race bike! all your answers are at the track. Also go the VFR800 as your commuter / road toy.

Pointless, tracks are way too far away.

Your first/main choice is really what style you want.

If you buy a modern sports bike (600/750) it'll suck comparatively for slabbing, how much it sucks will depend on a few factors. The trade off is it will be engaging and exciting to ride when you're getting up it and when in the twisties. I think it's a good way to learn if you're hitting corners because of the connection between rider and machine. If you like to stretch yourself a bit I think it's safer also because in a sports bike you have the development of chassis and suspension from racing there. If it enocourages you to ride outside you limits on the road though that hazard far outweighs any safety benefit.

If you buy something more upright with bigger donk like the VFR or Triumpf Sprint etc they're going to be more comfortable but less of a direct feeling to the experience of riding; not as sharp in the feeling from the suspenders, chassis etc. Can be changed to a degree but the difference will still be there.

The reality is most people will never reach the technological limits of a bike like the VFR on the road so the choice is really about what you want your EXPERIENCE of riding to do for you, and what are you willing to sacrifice
