Keep the seven worth bugger all atm, but get it restored immaculate and hold unto it in that form, not butchered. What would be the point you can buy a full Superbike spec bike for less than what the butchered 7/9 would cost.
Do whatever your heart desires for the 10 street it or keep it track. If you fighter it be prepared for wheelies everywhere.
Then buy the latest ten for the track

HI jonny,
Yer ur right, about the cost, been throwing some figures around, to convert the 7 to track form esp the way i would want it to be, would still work out a lot of dollars..
And i do think the 7 will be collectable one day, but if i take it off the road now, to start restoring i wont have a roady, so maybe i need to look for something else alltogether for a road bike???
But a 200hp 10 with the lastest ohlins front and back with some nice brembo's, with a nice paint job, sure would be a fun streetfighter

Simple really..
Restore the 7 for sure
Keep the 10 as a tracky, considering it already is
Buy a rego'd streetfighter.Or buy a road bike and fighter it.
Problem solved.

Those that know me, know ive got a 07,10 and a 96 ZX7R, now the 10 is a track bike only, had since new, so is not a repairable write off, so can go back on the road without a prob, but i dont have any bodywork, that got sold a few years ago.
The ZX7R is pretty well orginal, i bought it 3 years ago, and havent done anything to it, other than maintain it.
Now the question i would like to ask, is do i restore the 7 back to concourse, and is the 96 ZX7R going to be collectable in the years to come?
The reason i ask this is... the 10 owes me a lot of money. around 35 grand and is a lot of bucks for a track only bike.
As i want to have a tracky, i have been thinking of putting the 7 on the track, to do that, it would get butchered, if so i would fit a tricked 9 motor in it, raceglass ect.. and turn the 10 into a streetfighter, have been looking ot them on the net.
The 7 just doesnt cut it as a road bike, uncomfortable ect, and not really a bike to ride to work, play in the hills is ok, but i just dont ride that way in the mountains anymore... keep that for the track these days.. old age catching up
The 10 turned into a street fighter would be great i think, it has all the right gear on it now, and i think would be cool to have. but there is still work to go with it, but that can be done on the run.
The question im asking, is should i butcher the 7, or restore it hoping it will become collectable some time??
Just after peoples opinions, as ive been thinking about this for a while now..
Cheers
You can give me the 7 if you like

Street fighters look shithouse IMHO. Manufacturers should be able to sue you for defamation.

Funny u say that... was only thinking of going down that path with it as i sold all the road gear, lights and all, and never planned on it going back as a sports bike.
I have seen some nice streefighter's, saw a real nice RI on the gp run last year, very well done.
Had a look on the net last night, must of looked at a couple of dozen ZX10's and ive come to the opinion that ZX10's just dont suit the streetfighter look, they all looked crap to me.
They just dont seem to have the shape for it.
Will put some more thort into it before i do anything, and as someone said to me it would be a shame not finish doing what im doing with it without getting to play on the track with it....

Yer, i think thats what i will do, be a shame not to finish what i had planned for it sometime ago, its not that far off from been finished.
And i would like to restore the 7, if for no orther reson than to have a nice restored one sitting in the shed.
Might be time to start looking for a every day ride bike.....
