If u can, make sure it was produced reasonably recently, 5yr shelf life and all that. Not much point getting a good deal if it's toast in 12mths anyway. Let the flames ensue.

Mmm but my understanding is that shoei's 5yr warranty is , or should be from day of sale.......

Well cant complain so far order has been sent,yeah if i recieve it and it is over 2 years old i will be sending it back.
Yes the warrntie is for 5 years but certainly dont want a new old lid

I guess from time of manufacture, shiping, sitting in importer's warehouse, then out to wherever it goes, a bit of time goes by, then sits wherever untill sold, so i guees they sort of work out age, and go shit, we have to have a sale, unload for a good price, but its still new and in a box in the dark somewhere,so i dont think it will hurt it in anyway, just had a look at my new arai, and cant find a manufacture date on it...i remember as a young fella, they used to say to replace every 3yrs, now there giving 5yr warranty's, i still replace mine every 3yrs, then that one becomes a spare, then when i replace that one, the spare gets binned. somewhere along the way i must have forgot!!! i just seen 4 helmet's in the cupboard
