The only 7.1 LPCM I have is 3.10 to Yuma and I had to get that from Yanky land because the Studio's
don't think us Aussies are worth the extra liscencing fees
Dolby sound files are usually half that of DTS, so DTS is the better option and I always go for that if it's and option.
Our disc's usually have one or the other, whereas in Europe and US markets they get Dolby and DTS on the one disc! :x

LPCM is the only soundtrack where you will get it exactly as it was layed down on the disc, DTS and Dolby can depend on the age and quality of your built in decoders ;) Still sounds shit hot anyway :kuda:

Just went and bought Knowing, as recommended. On the back, it states DTS-HD, high definition audio.

It will be played on a new Panasonic Bluray player onto a Viera plasma. Looking forward to it!

Hooked up by ? HDMI, Optical or Coax?
If it's an older Yammy Amp, does it have the Analogue inputs for multi Channel?
My Panasonic Bluray has 7.1 Analogue outputs so I have no probs with my RX-V757 Yammy Amp which was the model immediatly before HDMI!
I just use the Bluray Player's onboard decoders and have the Amp set for Multi Channel Input, hence I have all of the Audio formats available :D

I use My PS3 connected to my Yamaha Amp via Optical Cable, And HDMI to my Samsung LCD. The 3 settings I use are Dolby Pro logic, DTS & sometimes Straight which is meant to be the RAW signal for the channels from the source (BluRAY PS3 game).

Thing i notice is in some games running straight if a noise on the RR of RL channel has Bass the sub kick in but if its on dolby the Sub dosen't have as much force behind it.

I guess it comes down to as stated before Dolby on the amp is decoding where if i have it on straight it relies on the Bluray decoders. If that makes sense.

Anyway Surround sound Rules misses always cracks at me for having it too loud :D

One reason i've not been in a massive hurry to fix the surround sound at home, i think i'd be the only one to utilize it.
