for some unknown reason that long straight into walcha has the ability to cause bikes to do strange things for example speed suddenly increases to sublight or even warp 3just depends what your speedo goes to :kuda:

 I reckon if you were going so fast that recommended 90km/h corners turned into hairpins you'd WANT to be sans number plate... :D

Only had three in thirty years  One twenty odd years ago and two on my 10 a couple of years ago. Both of these happened when I was riding with a gixer  so the gixer curse continues

touch wood , never had a flat tyre in 5 years. Tyre and rim insurance is not a bad idea if your puncture prone approx $500 and this gets you unlimited puncture repairs and up to two free tyres and rims a year (provided they are fucked) + towing and bike recovery to shop included.

I don't reckon that's too many, considering the kays you've done mate. Your friend has no idea.

I've had two. Couldn't bother calculating how many kms I've done, but roughly, say 65000 on this bike, 35000 on the last one, and about 50000 on the two fiddy... So, no, you haven't had too many.

And why would staying on highways help? Is that so that you won't get a puncture, or so there's more traffic passing who may stop to help ya?

Its not too many, I've had heaps over the years, but like you I like to travel on secondary roads rather than the hwy's.

I always carry my repair kit and gas cylinders to fix the prob and get me going - I had to use them once on the banjo road on the downhill run about 2k's before the meeting point ;) turn 579 I think it is  :kuda:

Oh, and you mate has no idea - does he ride abike or a keyboard

Fucked if I know how many klms I've done on a bike, maybe 500,000 or more & have had Shit loads of punctures. It depends where you are riding and what's going on. Sometimes I will go ages without one, then get four in a year, other times it's more evenly spread. So no, one every 66k isn't a lot Mel.

HAHAHA me too, that's about how I calculated how much kays I've done all up. And yeah I *think* the staying on the highways was more in case I need assistance.

Sorry Paul....

Oh and Dave#3 you'd know the mate... he only rides a keyboard these days... though he still has that same POS Suzuki that was left at Long Flat on that Oxley Run a few years back....

I keep thinking I should get a proper puncture repair kit. I have that foam in a can stuff, which I have seen used in a friend's tyre, top of Mt Hotham we stuck that can in and it held up fine to Canberra. I understand it makes a mess inside but if it gets you out of trouble... I also have NRMA premium service so if I get stuck at least I can get myself and my bike to the nearest town. (actually with premium, they will get me home).

Actually three of the four punctures that I have had were unrepairable. The only one that was repairable I got out on the Nullarbor somewhere.
