I hate the traders going through and then making money off it, most tips usta be fun as a kid, adventure and imagination reigned supreme and made many billy cart from the findings with the occassional treasure that was gold class find. Yep tip rat
Private companies and cotton wool society kills that, hey I am the dumb one but my brother capitalised and became an engineer in 3 disciplines from watching his older bro and dad make something out of trash.
Bed frames were an excellent source of angle iron

Last time I was in a tip we were there for a Hazard reduction and one of the crews picked up a Stuffed Gorilla that was wearing Superman Undies, they stuck it behind the Bull Bar on the front of the Cat 1 Truck, I'll have to download the photo when I get home ... funny!
We just had council pickup, threw out a set of drawers ... lasted 2 days then vanished, a Chair lasted 1 day and the plastic pot plant containers were there about 5 days, that was all we had so when I decided to throw out some motocross armour I had (Crap stuff I got off ebay and would be too embarrassed to ask money for) I chucked it on the neighbours pile .. was gone the next morning

We put some stuff out yesterday to be picked up by the council Monday and a couple of blokes pulled up to sift through it just hours later.

They had already loaded something into the boot of the car when I noticed them and thought it best to warn them that everything had been exposed to sewerage but they didn't appear to care. My only problem is when they dig through it and leave it all spread across the nature strip when I had taken the time to pile it up neatly in the first place.

See here is where you need to space it openly so the punters can get to it easily.
I put a rooted 80cm CRT TV out on the nature strip one arvo, I was watching it out the corner of my eye when a bloke stopped had a good look from his car then took off up the road to get his mate to help make off with the goods on foot, bet they couldnt believe their luck... damn funny to watch them struggle with this big heavy bastage of a thing.
Next morning it was back right where I left it
It went again later that day and it didnt return, must have been a blow through that snaffled it

One reason i don't put working CRT' items out with a plastic sheet over it & a note that it works fine is that there is some bastard that goes to them and smashes them open to collect the copper coils inside it. Rendering the thing totally dead and useless to anyone whom could benefit from it. Freecycle all the way!!
Which reminds me, i have a pile of old pc's I have been procrastinating reformatting and giving away. So if anyone in Sydney wants a Celeron D in a Shuttle "Korporate perfect cube" case (80gb hdd and about 1gig of ram) i have about six of the bastards here in their box, just let me know and you can come pick one (or more) of them up. All i have to do is just wipe the hard drive and remove what was on there and it's yours. I've been keeping them in my spare room from a business venture of a friend that went down the shitter. I have asked them a number of times over the last two years about taking them, but gotten no meaningful response. So as far as I'm concerned, they are mine to give away.
Hmm, i might make a "free to good home" thread if anyones interested...
