It took 3 minutes for the water to come down the road and flood everything and about 25 minutes for it all to subside.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. We are glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been if the water had come through the front door and at the end of the day we are thankful that we are both fine. Some poor bugger died about 10 minutes from our place so it puts it in perspective a bit. Hopefully the assessor will come early and sort it all out so we can continue the cleanup and get it done before it starts to stink. As for the bikes we'll get a bloke we know who is an insurance assessor to check them out before putting in any claims or doing any work to them.

Holy crap thats crazy right there. also go get a bunch of the cheapest oil you can find dump all 3 bikes sump oil refill and run them ASAP you can overcome water lock. Because its gone backwards thru the system worst you have is water system in the sump on the pistons etc, but the longer you leave it the more time rust can set in. You would be supprised how much a water dunking doesn't hurt a motor that bad (previous boat mechanic here 2 stoike & 4 stroke going under water & sinking, best underwater fix is to start them straight away).

The assessor said the house should be covered as it's clearly storm-water. Since the sewerage backed up everything that could be contaminated has to be thrown out and with both garage doors needing replacing it could end up a decent sized claim. After talking with a bike assessor the advice is to put in a claim for both bikes since the stator etc has taken a swim, they will pull it apart and check everything as well as drain fluids, repack bearings etc so it will be worth the cost of the excess to get it all done properly.

That's it for the update. I've got to keep emptying the garage and hosing stuff of and then drop the bikes off. I'm so sick of cleaning up already, I feel sorry for those poor buggers up in QLD.
