I know you think I was joking... but I wasn't.
During my recent track sessions at Phillip Island I had 41 psi in the rear tyre. At least, that's what was in the rear tyre when I eventually checked it earlier this week.
Dunno what was in the front... 38 or something.

i always forget to check the pressures...
i think the answer to the 1st question is why a new tyre feels so easy to steer??
r u talking BEFORE its scrubbed?? cos if u are, that why it turns so easy-tyres r coated in wax to preserve the rubber while it sits on the shelf, the wax is quite slippery...we need to remove this by gradually wearing that coating off by riding..but thats not wot ur asking abt cos u already kno that right??
neway i ran in my pilot sports abt 36f -42r on road..
28f- 30r at track...
i ran my bt012's at 34f and 40r on road
28f-28r on track
keeping in mind im a light ass, i always go a few kpi lower than suggested so i get the extra contact patch....this is for a 164kg cbr929 with a 70kg rider (pure muscle tho)...lol
recommended for my bike i think is 36f 42r which i use to run, but didnt like as much, felt to slippery...

forgot all about it..... i think you hit the nail on the head!!
then, you also gave even more advice about pressures with your weight (i'm 62 full Kilos, on a good day).... that made sence too....
Neka, who did you lend your computer/user name to??!!
oh, and Ardvark, I knew you weren't joking!!

oh don't worry 'bout the tyres getting scrubbed in, i think i need a new set soon (AGAIN!)... it's the damn front (BT014) that goes too quick, i think i'll try something different this time......

Ah cool, just found this thread.
I checked mine yesterday, i always forget to check em or am in a hurry. Bike felt a bit funny and i wasn't sure if the pressures were up the shit, so i stopped in at a tyre joint (don't trust servo's) Front had 26 psi and the rear had 36 psi. They were a bit low, but not as low as i thought they would be and shouldn't affect how the bike was handleing. I have always run about 38 psi in the rear and about 32 psi in the front. Have pilot sports too.
What do you guys recommend? Especially with how hard the suspension is on mine. Always thought slighty less and suck up a bit more of the road conditions.

I asked loads of people in the 'business' about this recently, they said that you only want to run low 30's if you're on a race track, for the road they recommend 36 front, 38-42 rear (solo vs 2-up).
These pressures are measured cold and with an accurate gauge (no servo pump in sight).

Depends on a lot of different elements. Some tyre manufacturers recommend different pressures for different model tyres. Then you have weather, track, road surfaces, Load to be carried & how you choose to set up your suspension. I found the Bridgestone 014f 020r preferred more pressure then do my 012ss. For a similar feel.
my 2cs.
Cheers Brett

I still say, stick as much air in as you can, without making the suckers explode.

Thanks Guys. I might try whacking a bit more in the front and see how it feels. Seams to be like most other things, bikes. Personal preferance and trial and error.
Talking about trial and error Jas. At what point do they exploid?

Not sure, I once had to put 110 in the front tyre of my MBX80LC to get it sit on the rim correctly

Wasn't me, and it wasn't a motorbike. A friend of the old mans swears he got just under 60PSI in his pushbike tyre before it exploded. The old man was there when it happened. He reckons he nearly had to call an ambulance because he was laughing so hard he thought something was gonna bust out of his guts!
So, yes, there are limits.
