a old fisherman years ago told me to spray wd on my lures and bait because it was basically fish oilGosling1 wrote:despite what a lot of fishos might tell you - WD40 is *the shizzle* when sprayed onto lures for saltwater fishing....I have caught some monster flatties with lures that have been sprayed with good old Wizards Piss.
Apart from that - it is still a great addition to any toolkit, for what it is designed to do best - disperse water, and provide a light lubrication for sliding or hinged parts.
It is *not* and has never been a rust preventative first and foremost, it can provide some light resistance to surface rusting on plated parts, but is is not designed to be used in buckets to prevent rusting to rough cast iron or steel parts. There are better products out there for rust prevention, but for light-duty use in the home or garage - WD40 is still one of the best products on the market for its designed purpose.
