What is CTP ? I assume its the NSW version of Victoria's TAC charges . And the figures quoted , are they on top of a registration fee or a combination of rego and insurance ?
Whatever it is , it is very expensive
I have just opened my rego for my (god , you gotta luv it :D ) ZX9 and the break down is Registration Fee $37.40
TAC Charge (inc $33.64 GST) $370.00
Insurance Duty $37.00
TOTAL $444.40
Gotta love how the TAC charge works out as a nice round number after GST is added
And what the fuck is Insurance duty on top ??

My bike is registered in the "country" so I think it is a bit cheaper than it was when registered in Melbourne .

Cheap ? Not really as we all know ,in Victoria , our fearless leaders have another income stream for road users that need their lives saved . So reliable a stream it is that the tools in Spring Street can put an increase into the last Budget forecast .

Oh and good Morning Rob :D you are probably the only other silly fucker up at this time of day on the weekend

There are 3-4 parts to Rego in NSW.
A blue/pink slip for inspection, blue is if its not been registered for 3 months, and is just a more comprehensive version of a pink slip (has lights, doesn't catch on fire, not obviously dodgy)
A green slip, which is the CTP/Compulsory Third party insurance (only for if you injure someone), this is the really expensive bit and as far as i'm concerned is a license for the insurer to print money.
Registration itself. Not cheap, but nowhere near as cringeworthy as a green slip.

Funny that the CTP cost already covered the cost of hospital treatment. Hospitals submit a claim every year for the number of ED attendances and inpatient days under the Motor Accident Authority (MAA). I know this is fact as I used to audit the figures submitted by our Area Health Service...

Each hospital was given an estimated subsidy as part of their budget and then the amount adjusted when the annual figures were submitted.

So now we are being stung with paying twice for this...

This is just bullshit at the highest level

Not sure what we can do other than voice our opinion to the relevant ppl and local members, but I am sure that government and the broader community do not understand the numbers when it comes to ppl involved in motorbikes. Especiallyth number of clubs and associations.

As for hitting up the low capacity bikes and scooters, it flys in the face of the Governments efforts to get as many cars off the road as they can.

I wonder has any one done the comparison of the impact of bikes v cars v truck to the roads, environment and the public health system.

I personally am not affected so much, but am looking to get my wife, son and daughter into it and all they all will be getting 250cc bikes ( well maybe not now ).if this happens they each of them will continue to drive a car, each with just one person, to work and of a weekend.

They should be doing more to get more ppl on bikes, especially small capacity. I'd hate to own a scooter business!
