Im surprised that you didn't find it knocked the low down torque all out of wack ? I have a 2009 Z1000 and I put Leo Vince pipes on it and noticed that the stock pipes have a controlled baffel that is linked to the throttle, upon opening the herbs up it closes off the baffle on the right side of the pipe to create more back pressure. I lost some low down mumbo and need to go down the power commander rute to get it back up

Yeah i know what you mean sako, i was expecting the same thing. With the butterfly valve out now, i thought i would loose some, but not the case. I think its about the same, if not more bottom end.

First pic i've seen of a 2010 z,and i might say that's the closest i've ever seen a production bike come to a concept bike yet. Nice ride, hope you enjoy it, bastard.

With the gearing on the 2010 Z you, (if you can keep the front wheel down) will probably beat most 1000 cc so called super fuck bikes up to 180 kph easily. I, on my 2004 have not been beat to 120 mph, (about 195 kph) by any of the crotch rockets. Of course I am old and slow, 64 years) so perhaps with your young quicker reactions you might even be faster. It is all in the gearing and how much JB you have had.

ahh i saw one of these at the bike shop the other day and i was like WOAH. And i reckon the akra's have done wonders for it.
Its just mega bad arse now Looks insane.

If your unhappy wiht how quiet the pipes are, angle grinder is your friend.
I know this might sound a bit insane, but shorten the pipes. its easy to do and you will gain some good noise. I did it to mine as have many others and for every inch you cut and remove the packing wiht the louder it gets! (or gut out some of the chambers inside )

That’s looks absolutely beautiful and so clean, especially the black. What do you use to clean it? Tell me is the swing arm standard as my 2010 Z1000 has a black one, is it because mines in the UK?

Be very cautious about shortening your mufflers it is a power robber, especially at high RPM. The designers of exhaust, (the ones that know what they are doing) make the length of the exhaust to give maximum performance for a particular motor and RPM. Usually shortening the exhaust, (muffler), will increase mid range at the expense of high RPM.

I am also looking at this system for my Z. Just wondering who you purchased it through and roughly how much the system costs? Also, you don't happen to have any pics of what the other side looks like without a pipe by any chance?

Little bit dark, but you get the idea. Trust me, its really cleans up the left side of the bike.
I bought mine directly thru Akra factory in France. They hadn't even put it in production at the time, and as the guys/gals here know, it took me ages before i got it.

Be prepared, if you do get the full system, its gonna be a grumpy exhaust. Even with a PC 5 and tuned to suit, it will pop and flame out on engine deceleration. Had the plod pull me up a few times, but got away with it (so far). Sounds great when your up it for the rent, but tryin to cruise around riding like a grandma, it will still sound like your bike has gastro.


I'm actually considering removing the system, reinstalling the OEM, and putting some slipons onto it.

Over the past few days I have been pricing up Akra's for my own 2010 Z1 and trying to get the best deal. Sounds like some of the fun has been lost with yours right now and it's got me thinking... I have also looked at slip-ons but you dont seem to get much for the price and I do prefer the look of a 4 into 1.

What's your opinion on the slip-ons?
